I worked for a Fortune 500 company (FAANG then, hyperscaler now) directly out of school and it was so troll. The jobs were giga cushy, the "esteemed employee base" lacked any ambition whatsoever, & everyone leaned on the brand pedigree as some end-state validation of their career
"I work at ____, now all I have to do is show up for 20 years and I'm done" - what kind of use of a human life is that? why should we celebrate that? Life can be so much more.
I lasted a year before leaving for an AI startup that was 6900x more interesting. That company eventually got acquired (although for much less than we could have gotten in retrospect), and despite years of blood, sweat & tears, I have ZERO regrets
All this is to say, even before I found SPX6900, I knew I hated the 500. Why? B/c I've always hated people who hide behind prestige as a shield for doing something meaningful
I'd rather spend my life trying to build something extraordinary than coast on the reputation of something somebody else already built
