WHAT! I am screaming 😱. I have no clue how my work travelled around the world and landed in front of @TIME, but naming me in their 2024 #TIME100NEXT list of influential leaders shaping the future of their fields and defining the next generation of leadership is wild, and you are all right at the centre of this acknowledgement. Thank you for helping me show the world that young, quirky people can also create impact! 1 Corinthians 2:9 says: That is what the scriptures mean when they say, “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” I just want to speak to the underdogs who feel like what they want is impossible. Please, please keep putting one foot in front of the other however dark it might be - I PROMISE, you were made for a time such as this on purpose and for purpose! #CrystalAsige #TIME100NEXT #BlindingAllureMixtape

There has been a lot of conversation about Parliament and the livestreaming of election results. So, what exactly is happening? -In 2024, the Senate passed the Elections (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, which proposed changes to Section 39 of the Elections Act. This section deals with how election results are determined, transmitted and declared. -Clause 22 of the Senate's Bill proposed replacing the existing Section 39. In the proposed replacement, the specific requirement for IEBC to establish a mechanism for livestreaming results announced at polling stations was missing. -Livestreaming allows Kenyans to watch results being announced at polling stations in real time. It gives the public another way to follow the process and compare what is announced with the results transmitted and published. -Electronic transmission of results is important, but it is not the same as livestreaming. One sends results electronically; the other allows the public to watch the announcement as it happens. -On 22 October 2026, the National Assembly deleted Clause 22 altogether. In its official clarification, Parliament said this preserved the existing Section 39, including the requirement for IEBC to establish a mechanism for livestreaming results announced at polling stations. -According to the National Assembly's clarification, the provision remains under the version passed by the House. However, the Bill must still go through the remaining legislative process before it becomes law. Transparency must be built into the electoral process, not left to assumptions. Kenyans must also be able to follow how votes are counted, how results are verified and how the final outcome is declared. As we approach the 2027 General Election, we must pay attention to the laws governing our elections and demand clarity whenever changes are proposed. An informed public is an essential part of an accountable democracy. #VIP

At the Crystal Asige Foundation, we believe inclusion is not charity, it is justice. Through our partnership with the European Business Institute of Luxembourg (EBU), we continue to expand access to education for persons with disabilities. In March 2026, learners completed fully funded certificate programmes in fields such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, entrepreneurship, leadership, and hospitality, gaining skills to prepare them for the world of work. This term, another cohort is underway, with 250 full scholarships covering 100% of tuition, meaning no barriers to entry for our learners. Our work continues to support and create opportunities for persons with disabilities to learn, grow, and participate in the future of work. Inclusion in Kenya is no longer an option! #VIP

It’s International White Cane Day. The ‘Linda Mwananchi Movement’ name has been received for processing. Fuel prices have shot up, again. And one year later, Baba’s passing is still fresh. What a day ….

I didn’t choose to lose my sight. But I did choose what to do with the life that came after. Today is #WorldSightDay, and this year’s theme is “Love Your Eyes.” I was born with full sight. Glaucoma slowly changed that, and learning to navigate a world I could no longer fully see came with its own challenges. But it also taught me that sometimes, the real disability is the world around us, when our spaces, systems and services are not designed to include everyone. The Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025 recognises the right to accessibility, reasonable accommodation and assistive support. So, please take care of your eyes. Get them checked. And while you’re at it, let’s also learn to see inclusion differently. #VIP

The construction of Nyayo Stadium ahead of AFCON has stalled because the contractor has left! This contract is valued at KSh1.184 billion, and only KSh200 million has been paid to the contractor. Question: If contractors can stop working because of non-payment, what would happen if footballers stopped playing because of the same? (20 marks) #VIP

The Kasarani Gymnasium Teachers Day event has shed a lot of light, but we can all agree at a fundamental level that Kenya would be a very different place without the dedication of its teachers. These issues must be discussed in Parliament. I celebrate all incredible teachers for their patience, dedication and the countless lives they shape every day. And a special shout out to those who may not bear the ‘professional title’ of teacher, but nurture all of us as if they were. 🙏🏾 #HappyWorldTeachersDay #VIP

94% complete. But are we ready for AFCON 2027? The Senate Labour and Social Welfare Committee, where I serve as Vice Chair, toured Talanta Stadium to assess Kenya’s preparedness to host AFCON 2027. At 94% completion, there has been significant progress. But there are still questions around the training facilities, pitch maintenance, transport and traffic management, security, and coordination between the different agencies. We also raised concerns around regulatory access, including the reported inability of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to inspect the facility despite being part of the multi-agency framework. And yes, accessibility remains part of the conversation — from designated seating for persons with disabilities to safe evacuation arrangements. There is still work to be done before we can say the stadium is fully ready, or Kenya risks losing this bid.. #VIP

Can a startup also be an MSME? Similar, but not the same. A startup and a Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise (MSME) can overlap. The difference is that they describe businesses from different perspectives. A startup is generally associated with innovation, scalability, research, technology or a disruptive business model, with the potential for significant growth. An MSME on the other hand, is primarily concerned with the characteristics of a traditional enterprise. Consider two businesses. A small retail business and a small technology company developing a innovative and scalable digital product. It’s like a local hotel vs Airbnb, or a taxi company vs Uber. The technology company may need support with: • Research and development • Incubation and acceleration • Intellectual property protection • Venture and growth capital • Technology transfer • Mentorship • Markets and commercialisation That does not mean one business is more important than the other. It just means different businesses have different needs and therefore require separate legal frameworks. And that’s the reason I am sponsoring the Startup Bill to address their very unique needs! If every startup is treated simply as an MSME, we risk creating support systems that do not fully address the needs of innovative and disruptive businesses. Kenya needs this Startup Bill which recognises and creates condusive environments for these differences. Now that the Bill is close to becoming law, what support programs should government begin designing right now to prepare for startups and help you and your idea thrive? #VIP

For deaf Kenyans, language is access. Access to education. Access to justice. Access to public services. Access to opportunity. As we close the International Week of Deaf People, this year’s theme, “Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights,”reminds us that these cannot remain aspirations. That is why I champion the Kenya Sign Language Bill, 2023. As the Bill goes through mediation between the two Houses of Parliament, our task is clear: strengthen the legal recognition and use of Kenya Sign Language, and remove barriers that exclude deaf Kenyans from full participation in society. Because inclusion is not simply about being present. It is about having the language, access and rights to participate fully. #VIP

Senate Mashinani is in full swing! We have been in Kilifi County all week for the 5th edition of Senate Mashinani, taking our parliamentary work outside the walls of Parliament and closer to the people. We have been visiting different parts of the county, engaging with locals, over-sighting projects and institutions, listening to the issues affecting people on the ground. Madafu pia si mbaya! #VIP

Africa still has no permanent seat on the Security Council. A 21st century Security Council without permanent African representation is unjust & indefensible. We must reform the Council so that it reflects today’s world with the legitimacy and effectiveness that today’s challenges demand.
