Dario Argento is 86 today! In 1977 he concocted a story involving a ballet school and a coven, then shot it on the last of Technicolor's dye-transfer stock, and made something no one has since managed to imitate. SUSPIRIA remains the template for what horror can look like.

Claudia Cardinale had the kind of screen charisma that defined an entire era of Italian cinema. This week, pieces from her personal jewellery collection go up for auction at Christie's Paris, 19–26 June. cultfilms.co.uk/product/fell…

Born on this day in 1947: Flavio Bucci. A hugely respected actor, he is perhaps best known for playing Daniel in SUSPIRIA, the blind pianist who finds himself alone in an empty Munich square late at night with only his guide dog for company... 🦯🦮🏛️

We're saddened by the passing of George Eastman: actor, screenwriter, and a genuine giant of Italian cinema. His story for Keoma (1976) remains one of the genre's finest. A talent whose contribution ran deeper than most realised. RIP.

Tinto Brass's MIRANDA is now on all-region Blu-ray and available to order worldwide. Serena Grandi plays the innkeeper Miranda, waiting for her husband to return from the war while keeping herself otherwise occupied. A Tinto Brass film in every conceivable sense

Tinto Brass's MIRANDA is now on all-region Blu-ray. Loose, sun-drenched, and considerably more Italian than its Goldoni source material. Reportedly one of Fellini's favourite films, and we also have 8½ available on blu-ray if you'd like to form your own opinion on that!

Dario Argento on why Suspiria (1977) is first and foremost a film about women, and the curious assortment of men orbiting them: a blind pianist, a mute butler, and a rather ambiguous assistant. Make of that what you will. 🩸🎬
