Update regarding community safety on VGen
UNETHICAL BROKERS:
Happy to say we’ve identified many previously unconfirmed JRUhub brokers, affiliates, and other unethical group accounts and they have all been banned for misrepresenting the nature of their profiles and services, intentionally inviting bad actors, and ban evading.
Big thank you to everyone in our community who has helped to investigate, report on-site, and provide detailed proof that our team were then able to review and take action on. Thank you for helping us keep the community safe!
REMAINING BROKERS:
In the short term, broker discovery has been rebalanced, their withheld funds processed through VGen Payments may not be released until after a commission is complete, and all brokers will continue to not have any invite codes. If any broker accounts mistype themselves as an individual or studio, they will now be suspended for at least 1 month immediately upon discovery.
We are still evaluating whether additional long-term actions are required.
Please do not assume all brokers are bad. However, if you do see suspicious behaviour, please continue to report them on-site and we will investigate.
ARTIST INVITE CODES:
There is now a hard limit of 2 unused artist invite codes per Verified Artist at any given time. If you earn more through a challenge or special event drop and you already have 2 in your dashboard, you won’t receive any more.
ARTIST CODE GIVEAWAYS:
Effective Nov 1, 2026, general contests, raffles, or applications are no longer allowed, even if recipients are screened. This is due to the increasing sophistication of groups who fraudulently misrepresent themselves as individuals.
If you see someone hosting a raffle or are in violation of our Artist Code Policy in any way, please report them on-site with a screenshot or link to their violating post and we’ll investigate. Their first offence will result in a warning before more severe administrative actions may be taken for repeated offences, including losing verification status and suspensions.

Im gonna speak an uncomfortable truth about brokers and why they are so successful on vgen. Its the Clientèle, aka mostly Vtubers.
Most clients these days do not want to pay individual artists rates and prices and resort to the cheapest option available, which is brokers. The success of brokers (including jruhub) is due to the fact that the demand for cheap and fast art is big. Vtubing is expensive and i know not everyone can afford art but by going to brokers and buying cheap art, you fuel the system.
Most ppl dont want to admit that they take part in this tho or try to talk themselves out of it with excuses , cuz admitting you fuel this, means admitting that you take part in artist exploitations. Ppl prefer to keep their vest clean of it all.
I must Admit, i accidently commissioned a broker account recently for a small piece, but i didnt know it was a broker. They got the broker label after i already paied for the commission, so it was my fault for not checking more thoroughly. Nonetheless , i also invested into a broker, may it be by accident or not, i added to the suffering of another artist and feel bad about it.
This is why i want ppl to be More aware of what brokers are and what it means to get commissions from them. Just cuz they are cheap doesnt mean it doesnt come with the suffering of someone.
I need vtubers especially to be more mindful of how they spend their money. If you cant afford an individual artist, then save up until you can; just like anyone else does. Dont fund artist exploitation and then try to wash your hands clean.
Excuses like „im poor“ „the economy is rough“ or „artists are to expensive“ don’t slide with me. Im the poorest mf on this planet and even i manage to save up for 1 or 2 Commissions a year. Yes its not much but it feels more rewarding and worth it. Being poor is no excuse to exploiting artists.
If we want to fight brokers, we must start at the behavior of each individual buyer. If theres no demand theres no supply. Consumerism and capitalism are that simple.
I know the truth hurts but sometimes you need to swallow it to make progress
The state that VGen is in is sad to see. As an artist that has been on the platform since beta batch 3. The Broker problem is a HUGE issue. This is just searching for a banner comm. Solo artists are being flooded out, people are being ripped off, and many of these brokers are extremely unethical. It shouldn't have even gotten to this point, but it has and it needs to be addressed ASAP.

we’re coming up to 4 years of vgen in nov and admittedly, many of our ops / moderation processes have only gotten expanded over time without any fundamental updates.
but as systems get with scale, they are now reaching their limits and it’s time we re-evaluate and rebuild to really consider the scale at which we operate now.
we do think there’s more we can do but it’s going to take us some time because these changes will require a complete reworking of all our ops processes and how they work together to simultaneously keep vgen welcoming to human artists and safe from those pretending to be.
these challenges were much easier to deal with when we were smaller, but now being the home to so many artists and clients around the world, these challenges have become harder -
however, with our team and community behind us, we’re confident we’ll be able to find the best solution moving forward, as we’ve done many times in the past.
while the fall26 product roadmap has been locked in for a while and cannot be changed (icymi app is coming), we will be conducting a full assessment of our ops processes (incl but not limited to applications, artist codes, verifications, moderations, AI reports, and brokers).
we appreciate your efforts to keep the community safe and keep us accountable - we love our community and we’re forever grateful that you care.

❌ AI is not allowed on VGen regardless of if the user is an individual or group account
☑️ You can filter for individual artists if you'd prefer to work with independent artists
If you suspect there's AI on VGen:
Please report it with any supporting proof on-site using the 'report' button.
We'll manually investigate and either:
- take action immediately if proof is solid
- place on watch list if we're suspicious but don't have enough proof to be certain
- dismiss the case if we disagree with the claim
- dismiss the case because no proof is provided
(TBH many reports are in the last two categories. but rest assured that reports are tracked, so if future proof is provided, the case may be reopened)
If you suspect a user is a broker pretending to be an individual artist: Please also report them.
We'll also investigate and if they're deemed to be a group account, they will be labelled correctly if it was a mistake, or banned if they are in violation of our ToS.
Please note that even with our invite code system, with over 200K artists and 1.4M users on-site, there are going to be at least a few bad actors, and we're always diligently reviewing through reports to weed them out.
However, we're also extremely mindful that we are the home to so many artists' livelihoods.
A false positive on an AI report could mean the difference between someone being able to pay rent or not - which means we're careful to only take action when we're confident, and we have appeal systems for when we do inevitably make mistakes.
We're always looking to improve and we'll keep doing our best to keep our artists and community safe. Our smol but dedicated team of 22 thank you for your patience, understanding, and support.
