For years her work was dismissed. A Hungarian immigrant, she’s battled many challenges in her > 3 decades of work in mRNA. Demoted; threatened with deportation; cancer; wage inequality...and #StillShePersisted.

Lise Meitner ~ Austrian-Swedish physicist
#ShortSciStory
Meitner helped discover nuclear fission but, as a Jewish woman, her part in the discovery was erased. Her male colleague, Hahn, was awarded the Nobel Prize. Despite her amazing work she remains largely unknown. #womeninSTEM

It's #Halloween, and there are brains, brains, everywhere!
@EmmaYhnell - @CUBiosciences explores why we associate the brain with Halloween and asks is the brain really that scary or is this encouraging some dangerous, sinister and unhelpful stereotypes?

Happy #AdaLovelaceDay !
Ada Lovelace was first to publish a computer program. And then was largely snubbed & forgotten for 100 years.
Today, we celebrate the work of women in STEM.
I was lucky to get to design the #AdaLovelace emoji - as a woman in STEM it's been an honour.

Today we joined forces with @ScotlandISCyber to run a #womenincyber meeting across two nations. We heard about Welsh and Scottish governments' #CyberSecurity initiatives and shared ideas. Loved hearing that we have similar aspirations, esp with today being #AdaLovelaceDay
