The #NHS recently announced a review into the health of LGBT+ people. While this is a welcome development, says Deborah Fenney in her blog, the review will need to lead to specific measurable actions. Read more ⬇️ kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and…

We condemn in the strongest terms the arrest of my friends Mahmoud Muna and Ahmad Muna, Palestinian booksellers and owners of Jerusalem’s Educational Bookshop, by Israel’s occupation authorities. The arrests of Mahmoud and Ahmad is a stark reminder of the ongoing campaign to censor knowledge, stifle free speech and information that challenges Israel’s occupation of Palestine and in this case, Israel’s illegal colonial occupation of #Jerusalem and its oppressive measures in the city. Freedom of expression is a cornerstone of all just societies. There is no genuine peace without the freedom to read, and no freedom to read without booksellers able to carry out their work in safety. We stand firm in our support of Mahmoud and Ahmad Muna, and all Palestinian detainees, and call on our colleagues and partners in the international community, including the publishing industry and the book trade, in the U.K. and beyond, to join us in calling for their immediate release.

In other words, somebody claiming PIP (or the old DLA, which somehow I'm still personally on) can work full time and have savings and still claim. Indeed this is not a bad thing, in many cases, it's essential, the support that some disabled people get through PIP...3

Replying to @PenPep
It was depressing AF to have to put together a dossier proving my "economic value" for my family in case I got seriously ill with COVID, as removing the non-consenual DNR applied simply b/c I'm on the learning disability register, took a long time.

As someone who had a DNR without my consent during critical illness I know there are many pressures of coercion. It was expected a DNR was acceptable. Thankfully I was surrounded by loving friends who demanded it was removed. And here I am... #AssistUsToLive
Coercion in the context of assisted dying is when someone is pressured or controlled into ending their life: This is an extremely important issue that MP’s must consider carefully before they vote on 29th November Please share this Thread 🧵 #AssistUsToLive

Today marks the beginning of UK Disability History Month💥 For us, this is an opportunity to look back on our long struggle for autonomy, against paternalism and pity. How could we not start with the Disabled People's Direct Action Network (DAN)?

Rachel Reeves said that Labour will honour proposals brought forward by the Tory govt to reform the work capability assessment. Disability charities have called her plans devastating, a contemptible measure and bitterly disappointing. #Budget2024 bigissue.com/news/social-jus…

One more thing. The majority of ME/CFS sufferers are women. Inevitably, this means: a. the illness receives less attention b. sufferers are likely to be dismissed or ignored c. doctors are more inclined to believe the causes are psychological Misogyny still runs deep in medicine

Researching WITH communities shud always centre their experiences. That's what we aimed to do with the Grenfell project . We followed the principles of - listening & the report reflects what we heard & not the story we wanted to tell @TheKingsFund @danwellings @ShilpaRoss
A key part of our report looking at the health care response to the Grenfell Tower fire, was listening to the people directly involved. @Lochiks shares her approach to carrying out this research and engaging with communities. Read the report: kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and…
