#MobileMondays 🎧 DJ Mary 808 To kick-start our Mobile Monday series in 2024, we spotlight DJ Mary 808! When we caught up with Mary, she explained: “Being a mobile DJ means that I have the opportunity to share my passion for music with all different types of people with a diverse set of musical backgrounds and tastes. I love traveling to various venues, playing music that suits the mood and theme of the occasion. I enjoy the challenge of adapting to different settings, captivating my audiences, and exceeding client expectations. I make it a priority in finding creative ways through music to make my performances stand out and ensure my audience have an unforgettable music experience. It is a rewarding career that gives me the chance to express myself through music and connect with people from different backgrounds and cultures. When it comes to DJ setup, Mary reveals, “I think the perfect mobile DJ setup for me is one that allows me to play both digital music from my laptop as well as being able to use USBs, portable hard drives, or where I can connect to any streaming platforms like Beatport. A stand alone controller is something I also have invested in and it has turned out to be an efficient controller to own for a traveling DJ like myself. My favorite gear would be my RANE ONE because I absolutely enjoy using it. It’s the perfect size for me although it’s a bit heavy it still offers a compact and portable setup that combines the best of both worlds: the classic feel of motorized platters gives it an old school aesthetic but at the same time provides the modern features of a controller that I am looking for.” As no stranger to #DJXShow, Mary concludes, “Lastly, I would like to thank DJX for the opportunity to showcase myself in front of the Carnival Cruise music department audition that was held during the event in Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City. Coming all the way from Manila, Philippines all I wanted to accomplish was to be a sponge and learn from the leaders of the DJ industry to promote my personal growth as a DJ. Never would I have imagined in my wildest dreams that I'd get a once in a lifetime opportunity to display my DJ talents to the Carnival Cruise Line Entertainment division and to be able to land a Pro DJ position with them all thanks to my participation in DJX.”
