Deer are most active during the rut, which peaks in November, increasing the chance of road crossings.
If you collide with a deer, moose or other large mammal, report it to your local police service and don’t try to move an injured animal.
To harvest the meat of a large mammal, you need to register that you have a dead wild animal.

Using standardized nets, we monitor fish populations and lake health across Ontario.
For larger fish, staff record information such as length, weight, sex and maturity and collect samples used to determine age.
For smaller fish, we track species' abundance and size.
Together, this information helps us understand how fish populations are changing over time and supports sustainable fisheries management.

If you’re hunting during a gun season for deer, elk or moose, hunter orange is required for all licensed hunters, including bow hunters, falconers, wild turkey hunters, bear hunters and eligible trappers.
Hunter orange is always required for bear hunters during an open black bear season except when on a tree stand.
Wearing hunter orange is not required when hunting double-crested cormorants or migratory game birds, except woodcock.

Fall is officially here! 🍂
As forests put on their annual display of yellow, orange, red, purple, and brown, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the trees that make this season so special and remember that change can be something to celebrate.
During National Forest Week, we’re celebrating the beauty, biodiversity, and benefits of our forests, and we’re especially grateful for the trees that bring colour to our landscapes, provide homes for wildlife, and help create healthier communities.
So as you get out and enjoy the changing leaves this fall, take a moment to look up, slow down, and appreciate the forests around you. 🍂

Municipal elections matter to Ontario’s firearms community.
City councils don’t issue PALs or classify firearms, but their decisions can affect where lawful shooting takes place, whether ranges can open or expand, and how local police resources are prioritized.
Before you vote, ask your candidates:
Do you recognize shooting ranges and gun clubs as legitimate recreational facilities?
Will you distinguish licensed firearm owners from criminals using illegal guns?
Will you support evidence-based discharge bylaws developed in consultation with hunters, farmers, landowners, clubs, police and rural residents?
Will policing resources focus on violent offenders, trafficking, smuggling and illegal firearms?
Check the record. Ask direct questions. Get clear answers.
Ontario’s municipal and school board elections take place Monday, October 26, 2026. Confirm your voter information and advance-voting options with your municipality.
Vote like discharge bylaws matter.
Vote like range zoning matters.
Vote like police priorities matter.
Because they do.
