With the Thanksgiving long weekend around the corner, Delta Police is joining police agencies across the country for Operation Impact.
From October 9 to 12, DPD officers will be out on our roads as part of this national road safety campaign, focusing on impaired, aggressive, and distracted driving, as well as enforcing the proper, consistent use of seat belts and child restraints.
Whether you’re staying close to home or heading out of town for the long weekend, make safety part of your plans. Drive sober, put the phone away, and make sure everyone buckles up.

We are proud to recognize three Delta Police officers who received the 2025 Alexa Award for their exceptional commitment to road safety and impaired driving enforcement.
This recognition holds a special connection to Delta, as it is named in memory of Alexa Middelaer, a four-year-old Delta girl who was killed by an impaired driver in 2008. Alexa's death had a profound impact on our community and helped inspire lasting changes to impaired driving enforcement and road safety efforts across our province.
A memorial plaque and tree are planted at DPD Headquarters to honour Alexa’s memory and serve as a lasting reminder of the consequences of impaired driving and its prevention.
Congratulations and thank you to our 2025 Alexa Award recipients for your continued commitment to keeping our community safe.

Summer’s here… but some school zones are still in effect. 🚸
While 30 km/h summer school zone speed limits only apply if signs specifically indicating 'Summer School' are present - speed limits in park zones that overlap with schools remain in effect.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and exercise caution. Warmer weather means more children may be walking, biking, or playing nearby.
