The people who are the best in the world at what they do, do not trade in the currency of money, or equity, but in purpose. If your mission is rich in this currency, and more importantly you know how to send this currency from your head to their heart over a power network called "human speech" then you have the capacity to build a dream team that can do what is impossible alone. This is not a random message, so let me give a practical datapoint to back this up. Our infrastructure company CH4Capital has one purpose "profitably destroy landfill methane." To achieve this I needed our team to know about Bitfcoin mining, infrastructure financing, landfill gas power generation and landfill gas carbon credits. I had expertise in exactly none of these things. So I asked myself "who is the best person we could have in each of these 4 areas". After some time searching, I found the world's leading authority on landfill gas power generation and landfill gas carbon credits was the same person. Nuno Barbosa. I contacted Nuno, and explained how I thought we could solve a problem: half the world's landfills couldn't sell power to the grid: solve this and we double his project pipeline. He agreed that was a big problem and said he was curious to find out more, so we arranged a call, but send the details of how it worked beforehand on a one pager, which he responded positively to. I opened the call with a simple request "I'd like you as an advisor to the fund. What this would look like is we get on a half hour phonecall every fotnight for the next year. The worse that happens is that you waste 26 hours of your life. The best that happens is that we double your business and change the way methane mitigation is done globally." Then paused. He replied simple "Yes, that sounds like a good idea." No spin. Transparent about risk. But also transparency about the potential CH4Capital is now close to 2 separate projects in Latin America, with PVARA (Pakistan's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority) also now actively looking to enact Bitcoin mining across the whole country's landfills. Without Nuno on the fund, this would have been impossible. His expertise was instrumental to our ability to build a fund that yielded a high return through harnessing carbon credits in addition to standard loan financing. Finding Nuno was the (relatively) easy part. Knowing what to say to Nuno took both research into the problem he faced, and a lot of pre-work to understand how to communicate to influence, not merely inform. This is why I say, people who are the best in the world at what they do, do not trade in the currency of money, or equity, but in purpose. If you understand how to trade (communicate) in that currency, you have the basis for forming a dream team who can achieve what you cannot possibly do alone. I'm currently coaching other Bitcoiners how to do this, with some good results that have helped progress various Bitcoin projects. If your mission depends on having others see the value of your ideas, reach out!

Bitcoin mining + carbon credits are like a Nik Cave and Kylie Minogue duet: an unlikely pairing that somehow works. And this unlikely pairing is now poised to make mitigating large swathes of the world's landfill methane profitable.

Back from a 10 day meditation retreat. Best thing I've done all year I advice learning breathing techniques first though. This is the bridge where many of meditation's become attainable I'll be running a SKY breathing workshop next week. Comment/message if you're interested

2 countries looking at whole-of-nation Bitcoin mining on landfills 3 other nations adopting the Paris Climate Accord article 6.2/6.4 because of Bitcoin mining made it possible to mitigate landfill methane Time for my annual 10-day meditation retreat See you on the other side

Methane is a major global pollutant Landfill gas (LFG) is one of the world's top 3 emitters 2/3 of LFG projects generating carbon credits have been generated by 1 person ... who just said Bitcoin is the only viable way to mitigate 1/2 the world's LFG emissions Probably nothing

Bitcoin causes 2 revolutions Stabilizing the world's 1. financial architecture 2. energy architecture 1. most people don't acknowledge there's a problem, so aren't looking for solutions 2. everyone agrees there is a problem, so are ready for Bitcoin as the solution The world needs Bitcoin. We've just been leading with the conversation they're not ready to have, and ignoring the one they are

Bitcoin is energy money But it is also a monetizer of energy Both those are innovations the world has never had before And the second quality if the one the world is ready for right now

The world's attitude to Bitcoin mining is changing rapidly For example, I just spent the weekend visiting 3 landfills where that country's government's environmental ministry identified that Bitcoin mining is the best solution to remove their hazardous methane emissions

Bitcoin mining and carbon credits is like a Nik Cave-Kylie Minogue duet. It shouldn't work, yet it does. Carbon markets have been criticised for 2 decades for paying for things that would have happened anyway A landfill project with no grid buyer is the opposite case: verifiably impossible without the credit and the miner Better still, it is all measurable down to the minute. Bitcoin mining is actually helping carbon markets make sense

When you invest in Bitcoin mining companies with dual revenue streams, you are accelerating Bitcoin acceptance (and therefore adoption), because you're growing the companies that advance the "Bitcoin solves an energy solution" conversation the world is ready to have

Yesterday I wrote "Bitcoin (mining) as an energy solution, is the Trojan horse for Bitcoin as a monetary solution" Here's the receipts behind the tweet: 1. Bitcoin-as-an-energy solution is the subject of >90% of peer reviewed journals >75% of Cambridge's report is on Bitcoin mining 2. Of countries forming National Bitcoin Reserves (other than by confiscation) > 90% have done so using Bitcoin mining (only El Salvador purchased Bitcoin) 3. Of people routinely talking to political leaders about Bitcoin (including Prince Filip, Adam Back, myself) almost all of the leaders want to talk about Bitcoin and energy (versus a much more muted response to "Bitcoin and money") 4. My keynote on how Bitcoin solves an energy problem at PlanB had a small Bitcoin audience, but outside the conference was seen by twice the number of people as the next most viewed talk Bitcoin is a fire waiting to burn. The Bitcoin-as-money conversation is the big log in the fire. It's the ultimate place we want to end up. But it's not the starting point. We've been trying to start a fire by holding a match to a big log. Bitcoin mining is the kindling, it's the fire starter, because it solves so many energy problems that people have, and political leaders are struggling to find solutions to, right now! Once Bitcoin mining creates acceptance of Bitcoin, from there it will be so much easier for the big log of Bitcoin-as-money to catch alight.

A waste management consortium recently took over an country's landfills because they were emitting methane, causing harm to residents and deterring tourism They concluded Bitcoin mining was the only viable solution We just booked by tickets to visit them Probably nothing

I spent 5 years funding new technology that could have social and environmental impact I don't do that any more I realized we don't use the technologies we already have, and using them is 10x faster and 5x less risky. For example, we already have the tech we need to obviate gas peaker plants, accelerate renewable transition, mitigate landfill methane at scale and end the practice of gas flaring for good. Better still, it is a single technology: Bitcoin mining And the world is slowly starting to understand that it might just be the most important force for environmental good we've ever had.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Darrick Ginkel formally joins advisory team of CH4Capital to further Bitcoin mining using stranded energy on landfills internationally Darrick helped finance billions the Bitcoin mining & AI expansion since 2021. His ability to use sensible financing as a tool to fuel Bitcoin mining expansion is in my opinion without peer. He's also CEO, Norway of T1 Energy, and a pleb LFG = landfill gas!

ANNOUCEMENT: Nuno Barbosa, one of the world's foremost experts on LFGTE (Landfill Gas to Energy projects) and LFGTE Carbon Credits formally joins the advisory board of our investment firm CH4Capital Nuno is one of a growing breed in the energy and environmental sector: not a Bitcoiner, but Bitcoin mining's ability to solve the problem of slashing methane emissions by monetizing otherwise wasted energy opened his eyes.
