From a current CTO at a larger company hiring new grads, who I talked with about the state of college students:
"Everyone says how new grads are 'AI-native' but we don't see this. They're usually not familiar with AI coding tools, have not used them much, and are much more familiar with the pre-AI way of building software.
And many of those who did internships did it at 'traditional' companies where they also didn't use these tools."

AI CEOs: “AI could pose an existential threat to humanity. We need to slow down.”
Everyone: “Then slow down.”
AI CEOs: “No, you misunderstand. We meant everyone else should slow down.”
This is not about safety.
It’s more like “open source models are catching up and we should be the only ones who build and have access to intelligence”
There are no good guys here

"Any software engineer can now produce much more value than before"
"No one will want to hire software engineers"
Both of these cannot be true at the same time.

RM @RepGregoryMeeks: Concerned about reports of internet blockages and crackdowns against protesters as Cameroon awaits official election results. It is critical that the election outcome is transparent and reflects the will of the people.
