Yes, theory can help us explain why things happen. But theory also describes what things are (and are not), why they matter, & how they vary. The answers to descriptive questions are just as important as answers to explanatory ones. Each informs the other. link.springer.com/article/10…

I have told every single student I've taught this - fitting in with human factors content as you're designing your paper with your user in mind. They're busy, overworked and don't have time to figure out what you mean (and are likely to quit or get mad if you make them try)!
