NairametriX... 😅
It's no news that a lot of Nigerians in diaspora invest in real estate in Nigeria Now, imagine someone who sent 5000$ from abroad to buy land in Nigeria last year 2023, and by this time last year, 5000$ was approximately 2.9m naira. This year 2024, one year later, the guy in the abroad told his agent to sell that land & send him back the equivalent in dollars. The agent sold that land for 5m naira and converted the money to dollars, but 5m naira is now 3504$ Hope you guys have seen how real Real in Nigeria is? 😂😂😂.

A few months ago, I lamented the exit of one of the top global Pharmaceutical giants, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) from Nigeria. GSK remains a top global pharmaceutical manufacturer and has had 51 years of operations in Nigeria. The reason for their exit was that there was no longer a

If you want to transform Nigeria’s infrastructure, create jobs and keep more than $20B in Nigeria’s economy every year, do the following; 1. Pass a bi-partisan legislation CRIMINALIZING the travel abroad for medicals, education, vacation, shopping and any foreign trip that will require spending of more than $500 for the entirety of the stay BY ANY PUBLIC SERVANT, CIVIL SERVANT, ELECTED OFFICIAL, their families, girlfriends, privies and associates of any form or shape. The penalty should be imprisonment without option of fine for 10 years. 2. A constitutional amendment stripping any elected official of his/her immunity under section 308 and be tried for any offense under the law in Nigeria who violates 1 as above. 3. Reflect the consequential effect in other extant laws to be In consonance 4. Provide accelerated hearing and time limit for the hearing and determination of the offenses as caption above and bar stay of proceedings in such matters. 5. Judicial officers who are found culpable of compromising the cases should not only be removed from the bench but be tried for the same offenses as if they committed the same act (s) IF YOU DO THAT, I guarantee you, Nigerias public schools, hospitals, and recreational centers will be like their European counterparts in just 3 years. @officialABAT @nassnigeria @NigeriaSenate @HouseNGR Retweet

Even as I am still studying the 2024 fiscal budget as presented to the National Assembly last week, I cannot wait as I am compelled to ask : what is exactly wrong with us as a country?

Nigeria is the only country I know that abandoned its cash cow in the Niger Delta (to political thieves), & chasing shadows abroad, in the name of Foreign Investments. I am here to tell you that Saudi Arabia will not revamp your refineries in Nigeria, they won’t give you the so-called foreign currencies to stabilize your Naira. The FG should stop the vexatious lies & the propaganda, & end the massive oil theft. Your Naira is crashing because the Central Bank Of Nigeria no longer receive ($billion) large sums from the NNPC, for the former to fulfill their forex obligations to the economy. Where do you think the dollars, the pounds & the euros for your foreign trips, foreign school fees, & your medical tourism abroad come from? They come from the forex earned by exporting my Niger Delta Oil. Right now? many of your Nigerian political elites are stealing my crude oil with large vessels, they do that in cahoots with some international experts called the IOCs. Like Muhammadu Buhari told you that Germany will invest $18 Billion in the Lake Chad region, & extra $50 billion in the overall area (including Nigeria), Bola Tinubu will finish you with lamba as well. The truth is, “nobody is coming to fix Nigeria for you!” The APC cannot just help themselves, they lie for a living. Having gotten away with too many lies, those incompetent bigots can no longer stop. Where is the Siemens x Germany electricity deal promised since Buhari’s first term? The late Abba Kyari & the BMC (Buharist), they went into town, announcing the Siemens Deal with huge fanfare. Do you have 24 hrs constant electricity in Nigeria now? Where are the Indian Investors with the so-called $13 billion investments? At best, it was a pledge to massage Tinubu’s useless ego. Afrexim Bank’s $3 billion NNPC Crude Contract Loan hit the voicemail as well? Like the UAE Visa Ban Lifting mishap, this Saudi Arabia announcement is another deception taken too far. But I’m sure you know this already! Having been caught in a web of lies, Ajuri Ngelale stepped back for (old hag & a bigot) Bayo Onanuga to step in. The News did not come from Saudi Media, but from the usual suspect, yeah, you guessed right, the NTA. Saudi media reported the accurate News, & they made no mention of being a Father Christmas, & helping Nigeria to revamp your refineries. These are the things I expect the Opposition (Labour Party/PDP) to say. You give the Tinubu Propaganda a very close marking. You don’t leave anything to chance. The APC as “the Opposition” would have bought media time on repeat, they would have gone to town telling Nigerians the many lies of the Bola Tinubu illegitimate-incompetence. I repeat, “Saudi Arabia is no going to fix your refinery.” What the NTA (Radio without Battery) said, are lies, at best, another cheap propaganda. Just take it as a joke, for your own sanity. The NTA was only playing. Charity must begin at home. Go back to Nigeria & end the massive oil theft in my Niger Delta! That is the only way your Economy & the Naira will survive. Stop attending every mushroom Summit in the West & Asia, “beggars go home sorrowing.” No one is going to fix Nigeria but Nigerians. A lazy goverment is always concerned with “looking good, against being good.” You have oil, you have solid minerals, you have no business begging investors to invest in your country. Use what you have, & develop. Develop your local capacity, end the Japa Syndrome by investing in your young people. When all you do is profligacy, buying expensive Japanese cars & presidential yachts for yourself, you think that the international community are not watching? What told you that international investors are fools? You think they don’t have advisers to tell them about the situation in Nigeria? Foreign investors probably knows more about the Nigeria Economy, more than your average wannabe Nigerian elite. Only a lazy government abandons what it has & goes abroad, chasing shadows. 🙄

This morning I decided to look into names of all appointees of Mr Tinubu. As a Yoruba man, I must confess that I was shocked to see the level of nepotism in this administration. How can anyone lead a federal entity with such appalling & shameless acts of nepotism⁉️ All BAT will end up doing is to create resentment for we Yorubas. This is unacceptable, you don’t govern a multi-ethnic & multi-religious country like this. For our nation to be development oriented, the govt need to rise above caste divisions & nepotism. Congratulations @DavidHundeyin, you're passionate and relentless in the pursuit of truth! 👍
3 years ago this month, I launched @WestAfricaWeek as a Substack newsletter that was so nondescript, I initially gave it the tongue-in-cheek name, "A Boring, Generic Newsletter." It's only 3 years later in October 2023, and tonight we've just finished in 1st position ahead of Al-Jazeera and BBC Africa in the Special Investigative Reporting category at the PwC Media Excellence Awards. It is possible!
