🕊️ @AUC_PAPS today signed an #MOU with the Regional Faith Women Mediation Network (#REFWOMEN) to strengthen collaboration in building peace at the community, national and regional levels. H.E. Amb. @Bankole_Adeoye, on behalf of H.E. @ymahmoudali, Chairperson of the Commission, underscored that interfaith engagement and women’s leadership are indispensable to silencing the guns and delivering peace dividends across Africa. He emphasized that sustainable peace cannot be achieved without women and faith communities, while reaffirming the African Union’s commitment to empowering women of faith as agents of peace, dialogue, and reconciliation. Ms Jeannette Uwizeye, Executive Director of @FECCLAHA, expressed appreciation to the @_AfricanUnion for formalizing a partnership rooted in a shared commitment to peace, justice, human dignity, and resilient communities across Africa. She highlighted that the strength of the partnership lies in the complementarity of mandates, with the African Union providing continental leadership and strategic frameworks, while REFWOMEN contributes grassroots presence, trust, and moral credibility through faith actors embedded within communities. The partnership reinforces African-led efforts to advance conflict prevention, mediation, dialogue, reconciliation, and sustainable peace through the meaningful participation of women and faith-based actors across the continent.
