This is unsustainable. Also it’s kind of crazy top line inflation lead by grocery and energy is more of the top election issue than specifically health insurance. The system is breaking down.
BREAKING: The average cost of a family’s annual health insurance premium in the US is up +$1,303 YoY, or +5%, to a record $28,303. This marks the 4th consecutive annual increase of at least +$1,300. Over this period, the average annual premium for family coverage has surged +$5,884, or +26%. To put this into perspective, CPI inflation has risen +13% over the same period, or half as much. Since 1999, the average health insurance premium for a family has soared +$22,494, or +387%. This represents an average annual growth rate of +6.1%, well above CPI inflation at +2.6% over the same period. Health insurance has never been more expensive.

AirBNB had its place and time, but it’s over. Had a lovely stay at a Hyatt last night, left trash in the can, towels on the ground, and am confident my corporate overlord isn’t going to light me up with a guest review video. A professional exchange of goods for money. The AirBNB hosts did this to themselves and the platform lost control long ago.
its just bonkers the new policy @airbnb is trying to put in place. Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, taking out the trash, pulling the sheets off the bed....they are just standard things any normal person would do when staying at a house. Why wouldn't a host be allowed to say that?

I bought new Brooks Brothers dress shirts. But I bought 35 and now I look like a teenager who grew out of his clothes. Gdi, sorry Keeneland you’re about to see too much sexy wrist action.

It’s 6:39pm on 10/23/2026 and I just got a 12/31/25 capital account statement for a real estate private equity fund. So yeah that’s how well it’s going.

Going to see family this weekend. An engagement party and Keeneland, fun times. I asked my daughter if she wanted to take a side quest to see my great uncle Tommy. She said “who is he?” And I told her he is my grandfather’s brother. She said ok well if he’s important to you then yes.

A year ago I talked to @PythiaR on the phone. He asked a question - what makes your boss’s value offering so attractive? I felt like I outlined the case for how his nonfinancial, network value (i.e. inherently who he is outside of work) reinforced the core offering. But the q was so thought-provoking I haven’t stopped thinking about it since then. It’s also made me pessimistic on any succession plan they have cooked up, at least as it pertains to my clients/role (I’m ☠️).

Related, I asked my closest colleague: if we as a group were trying to make a new managing partner from scratch, how much money would we have to invest to create the network, the time travel via PJs, etc.? I set the o/u at $50MM, he said more, and I agreed.

CVC Fund VII owns 47% of Recordati and couldn’t find a buyer. So naturally, CVC Fund IX is buying the whole company for EUR10.7bn. Of course, the independent directors voted against it because the price was “inadequate.” This is what selling to yourself looks like when the deal is public and you can see the price...

Yesterday my son said “ok when I’m 12 I want to work for you at the office then I want to get a job at Chik Fil A when I’m 14”. I asked him why he wants a job so bad, why he’s so money-hungry. And he said “I don’t know dad. I don’t really want it for anything. I just want to have it.” I’ve never felt more seen in my life.
