We're incredibly proud to see Dada Devs builders making their mark at @btcplusplus Nairobi, contributing to projects tackling some of Bitcoin's most important challenges—from privacy and open-source development to financial access, developer reputation, and funding innovation. Across the hackathon, Dadas helped build projects that didn't just participate—they stood out. 🏆 Out of 37 competing projects, teams featuring Dada Devs secured multiple awards and top placements:

Africa is not just adopting Bitcoin. African women are building it. We built Dada Devs with the hope of creating a better ecosystem for African women in Bitcoin — one where women have access to the technical training, mentorship, resources, and opportunities they need to move from learning about Bitcoin to actively building and contributing to it. That vision is taking shape. Through Dada Devs, we are creating pathways for women to develop their technical skills, contribute to open-source projects, explore Bitcoin infrastructure, and build solutions of their own. We want African women to be more than participants in this ecosystem. We want them to help shape its future. @su_githaiga @nkatha_kk @Salma_Adam_KE @junearsenic7 and @nnakhero are five of the women doing that work. Their journeys reflect what becomes possible when women have the support and space to grow into technical contributors. And they are just a fraction of what is happening at Dada Devs. There are more women learning, building, contributing, and finding their place in this ecosystem. We started with a hope for a better future for African women in Bitcoin. Seeing that future begin to take shape through their work is a reminder of why we do this. Meet the five African women contributing to the future of Bitcoin. Discover what they’re building, the work they’re contributing to, and how Dada Devs is helping create more pathways for African women in Bitcoin development. Thank you so much for highlighting this 😃 Grateful for everything @DadaDevs does to support developers
A Dada Devs (@DadaDevs) alumna is now contributing to open-source Bitcoin mining firmware. Susan Githaiga (@Su_Githaiga) contributed to Mujina, simplifying part of its codebase by replacing an external library with two built-in functions. This is what grassroots Bitcoin education can lead to: women moving from learning to building. Check the reply below for the link to read the full story 👇🏾

Can’t believe what we’ve accomplished in Nairobi! What an incredibly talented group of builders ♥️ Thank you @btrustteam @SoapboxTech @DadaDevs @ibrahim_sekinah for bringing this H4F to life! For the rest of the year, we’ll be focusing on our community of alumnae - and we have lots planned for 2027 👀

Same hackathon, different presentations. The backend team explains the logic, while the frontend team gets the head nods and applause. Sometimes, seeing is believing! #DadaDevs #Hackathon #BuildonBitcoin

There are two types of devs: Those who live-demo and pray, and those who bring a pre-recorded video just in case the code senses an audience. #DadaDevs #Africanfemaledevelopers #BuildonBitcoin

Meet Daisy Sawe, a software developer and Dada Devs Cohort 1 alumna. 🧡 Daisy’s journey has taken her from building on systems owned and controlled by others to exploring a different kind of technology: one built on decentralised systems and open protocols. Recently, she was part of Team Resilience, which came 2nd place and won the Nostr Prize at the @hack4_freedom Nairobi Hackathon. Their project uses Nostr to help survivors of gender-based violence communicate privately with a counsellor. Daisy’s journey is a reminder of what happens when developers get the opportunity to explore new technologies, develop their skills, and build solutions that matter. From our very first cohort to building solutions with real-world impact, this is the kind of progress we love to see from our Dadas. ⚡️ #DadaDevs #Nostr #AfricanDevelopers #BitcoinDevelopment

This was truly one of the most packed hackathons I’ve ever been a part of, learnt so much, interacted with brilliance, got to meet OG mentors in the space (*wink @tando_me @btrustteam @hack4_freedom ) built with #NOSTR (soo many NIPS) Just lovely 😊
And just like that, The @hack4_freedom Hackathon Nairobi came to an end! 🇰🇪 After two weeks of learning, technical sessions, virtual bootcamp sessions, collaboration and building, the participants finally got to put everything into practice during the Hackathon. Demo Day was a celebration of the ideas they developed, the problems they explored, and the solutions they built together. And we’re especially proud to celebrate our Dadas who showed up, built, collaborated and made their mark. 🧡 🏆 1st Prize — Anza Dadas on the team: @aishagojo , @steppepulse 🥈 2nd Prize — Resilience by Team Nostr Warriors Dadas on the team: Adreen Nyawira, @mujojojayar , @GraciaMugoiri , @NNakhero , @DaisySawe 🏆 Nostr/Soapbox Prize — Nuru Women Dadas on the team: @JoylizzaMwangi

And there was an extra win for the Anza team, who received an additional $500 prize from Dada Devs CEO, @marcelorraine . We also want to give a special shout-out to @NNakhero , who was recognised by other participants for her incredible support and encouragement of the Dadas throughout the hackathon. 🧡 From the first session to the final pitch, these women showed what happens when you give developers the space to learn, experiment, collaborate and build. Hack4Freedom Nairobi may be over, but the building continues. ⚡️ Congratulations to all our Dadas! You did that. 🧡 #Hack4Freedom #DadaDevs #AfricanDevelopers

This! 🍊🧡🌟
If we want to shape Africa’s tech future to better reflect our realities, we have to do more than use the technology. We have to build it. ⚡️ Africa doesn’t just need more people using Bitcoin and open-source technology. We need more people contributing to the code, building infrastructure, and solving problems within our communities. The projects built by the women at @hack4_freedom Nairobi were a reminder of what’s possible when African developers take the lead in building solutions that reflect their realities. We’re immensely proud of what they’ve accomplished. 🧡 It’s time to move from being consumers of technology to becoming the builders shaping what comes next. Dada Dev🔥😏
We’re incredibly proud to celebrate @Su_Githaiga , a Dada Devs alumna, for becoming the first African contributor to the 256 Foundation’s mining project. ⛏️⚡️ Susan has made her mark in Bitcoin open source with a contribution to the mining codebase, submitting a pull request to replace the crc_all dependency with an inline CRC implementation. This is more than a GitHub contribution. It’s a reminder of what happens when African women are given the technical skills, community and opportunity to contribute to Bitcoin at the protocol and infrastructure level. From learning Bitcoin to contributing to the code that powers it. This is exactly why Dada Devs exists. Congratulations, Susan. 🧑🏾‍💻🔥 Africa is not just using Bitcoin. African women are building it. 🔗 Susan’s contribution: github.com/256foundation/muj… #DadaDevs #Bitcoin #BitcoinMining #OpenSource #WomenInBitcoin #AfricanDevelopers
