Hemingway was a communist. However, he was of such spirit that I still find inspiration in his work. During WWII he sailed around Cuba with grenades, hunting for submarines like a drunken Ahab. Green Hills of Africa & Death in the Afternoon, both nonfiction, reflect this spirit.
