Is Bojack horseman just people being shitty to each other 24/7 why do people like it
This scene is being used out of context (which is sadly very typical with Bojack Horseman these days).
It was not telling people they can't nor shouldn't forgive others. Anyone who actually watches the scene knows what's wrong, because Herb spells it all out.
The whole point is that Bojack's apology wasn't sincere, and there's no point in forgiving someone who doesn't regret what they did and isn't trying to change.
Bojack knew he had messed up the moment he stabbed Herb in the back and had two decades to reach out to Herb and possibly make things right, but he only apologized when Herb was on his deathbed because Bojack is a selfish coward. He won't put in the actual work or risk to be a good person, he just played one on TV.
Bojack was looking for closure because it would make him feel good, not because it was the right thing to do, and if he had the chance, he would likely stab Herb in the back again. In fact, Herb doesn't know this, but Bojack completely screwed over another character, one of his closest friends, right before coming to visit Herb, and immediately after he leaves, he kisses an engaged woman which betrays two more of his friends.
There's an argument to be made that the show has moments which justify and appeal to self-centered millennial mindsets, but this is not an example of that.
To be fair though, assuming Twitter's translation is correct, the OP tweet this is responding to does imply it's right to just forever resent people.
It's a happy day for all the freaks that bookmarked posts along the lines of "If the Dems win I'm posting Leeds"
