The DeKalb Chamber Foundation held a Trades Exploration Day on Wednesday at DeKalb High School, allowing young people to meet with businesses to discuss a career in the trades.

The Sycamore Pumpkin Festival began its annual run Wednesday with the pumpkin check-in and ceremonial cake-cutting. The fest runs through Sunday, Oct. 25.

The Nov. 3 midterm election has not yet happened, but at least one Sycamore school official has said they intend to run for reelection in the April 6, 2027 election.

Since 2020, DeKalb schools have noted a change in balance, with more of the commercial and industrial tax base picking up a greater share of property tax funding. According to district documents, the tax share from homeowners has declined from 56% in 2020 to 41% in 2026.
