I never imagined a world where physicians speaking up against the senseless murder of children, the killing of tens of thousands of innocent civilians would be accused of unprofessionalism. Yet, this is the reality that many face today — one that we cannot accept. We must continue to resist injustice in all its forms.

Israeli forces frequently deliberately prevented injured Palestinian children from receiving medical care. In 43 percent of cases in our report, Israeli forces detained and fired live ammunition toward ambulances, paramedics, and civilians attempting to provide aid.

Tonight, @UofT Student Union passed a motion calling on the University of Toronto to boycott partnerships with institutions that contribute to the illegal occupation of Palestine or that deny Palestinian human rights.
Bravo to all of the students who organized and voted.
The motion reads:
"BE IT RESOLVED that the UTSU calls on UofT to end institutional partnerships with all
institutions involved in the denial of basic human rights or in maintaining the Israeli
occupation, and do not recognize or support the rights of Palestinians under international law including but not limited to: the right to self-determination, the right to equal rights
as citizens in their homeland, and the right of return to their homeland. This includes the
UofT-HUJI Research Alliance and Entrepreneurship Highway, the Lyon Sachs Engineering Research Fund, the Coburn Fellowship, and other partnerships."

"I have been informed that I have been removed from further performances of Tosca with the Calgary Opera following my display of the Palestinian flag during curtain call.
I have no regret.
This is the state of cultural institutions in Canada. I was informed that financial threats had been made against Calgary Opera. I hold no resentment.
After the theatre, (political or otherwise) we all have to go home, and look at ourselves in the mirror.
It was my honor to play the role of Angelotti, an escaped political prisoner." Gabriel Sanchez-Ortega

We are disturbed to learn that @CalgaryOpera has removed bass-baritone Gabriel Sanchez-Ortega from future performances of "Tosca" after he unveiled a Palestinian flag during the curtain call on opening night. Art is political, and artists should not be punished for expressing support for the Palestinian people as they face a genocide. This decision must be reversed.

Yesterday, I watched Naza.
I did not go to learn what had happened in Gaza. I am from there. I am one of the victims of this war, one of its witnesses, and one of those who have paid a price that will not end when the war does.
I did not need a film to tell me how entire neighborhoods were wiped away, how residential buildings were bombed with the people still inside them, or how families were forced to leave their homes without knowing where they were supposed to go.
Nor did I need anyone to tell me about the famine. I lived through it twice, with all its humiliations, down to the smallest detail. Or about the starving people who were killed while trying to reach what were so absurdly called “food distribution centers.”
I know all of this.
I was there.

Grateful to have the beautiful and devastating work of Rize Abdel Jawal hanging in our home.

"History will one day record that a small city on the seashore stood for a thousand days against fire, hunger, siege, and death, and that people who were buried every morning still managed to rise every evening to rearrange their tents, to count their martyrs, comfort their children, and believe that no matter how long the night, it cannot erase one truth: that nations may be broken, but they do not die. Gaza, though burdened with rubble, will remain."

Your definition of Zionism does not matter. Nor does mine. Zionism is defined by its material manifestations. The purpose of a system is what it does. And the Zionist system does racism and genocide. Simple. Please spare me the arrogant insufferable graaating Oxbridge debates. Your opinions are irrelevant. People are dying.

From 1975-1991, even the @UN officially recognized Zionism as racism.
Obviously, Palestinians have been telling & showing the world the racist expression of Zionism on their bodies, homes & lands for decades before & since.

Recorded months ago, this was the first time I spoke publicly about the anti-Palestinian racism I experienced at Sinai Health in Toronto, when I started advocating against the genocide in Palestine.
The hospital hired a lawfirm that sponsors the Walk for Israel to oversee the process.
What we go through is nothing compared to what our colleagues in Palestine are enduring, but the widespread silencing by our institutions is a tool that helps enable the ongoing genocide and we must collectively push back against it.
Our colleagues in Palestine are still fighting for the health and liberation of their people, and we have a duty to stand in solidarity, take material actions, and keep throwing stones into the gears of genocide – until Palestine is Free.

Imagine if he extended this much empathetic pain and grief to the victims of a genocide. And that’s the point. He is incapable. His deep pain and grief is for his own wounds first and foremost. Is that his right? Absolutely. He’s putting himself first and we don’t have to. The end.
