Everyone who spoke negatively toward my “early impressions,” and “buyer’s advice,”owes me a big apology, lol. You don’t always have to own a device to simply state the obvious. Now where I can admit wrong; the iPhone Duo is sooo much better I thought. Full review coming soon. 👍🏿
I’ve been asked by a lot of people on whether or not they should get the iPhone 18 Pro Max or iPhone DUO. If you are in the same boat, then this post is for you! Don’t fall into the hype trap unless you have the funds. Here are some objective truths between both phones:
1. The DUO has worse battery (4800 vs 5500 mAh);
2. Cameras (between 17e & base iPhone 17 quality);
3. Slightly lower sustained A20 Pro performance (either due to smaller VC cooling plate or TDP restrictions);
4. Bad aspect ratio in gaming (got to talk to a few CCs who gamed on the DUO during Apple event, but this is nothing new with current Android foldables);
5. Display durability and device longevity is less than 18 Pro Max (even with their scratch resistant coating);
6. (Subjective) DUO has no FaceID;
7. Lastly, DUO is heavier and more bulky (especially with protection cases).
On the flip side the DUO offers multi-tasking and a portable iPad Mini experience (But ask yourself, how often are you multitasking on your iPad, tablet, or current device?).
Therefore, you are objectively paying more for less if you choose the iPhone DUO over the 18 Pro Max. Hopefully this helps those “average consumers” who are not aware of these details and have been blowing up my DMs.

The tech Twitter/X echo chamber needs to be studied. I may just be old, but a lot of the tech "news" here is solely for engagement farming vs actual informative information. It's becoming more and more unbearable to be on this app. Again, I know I'm an old head, but I miss the old days.
The performance of the iPhone DUO is incredible! Yes, the DUO still falls behind the iPhone 18 Pro Max in Gaming, but not as bad. Again, devs must fix aspect ratio and resolution. The DUO had lower res in all three games despite bigger screen. ⬇️

Now with the embargo lifted for the iPhone DUO; my first impressions are that I am not impressed. Apple should have released the DUO next year. It looks more like an unfinished product. Most apps and all games are not compatible with the DUO aspect ratio! The black bars look horrible. Last, as I’ve mentioned, you are paying more for less. The performance of the DUO is closer to the iPhone 17 Pro Max and A19 Pro due to the thermal restraints. Battery life is horrible as well. I can go on, but I will make sure to test all of this once I receive my unit in November.
In less than three weeks I am blessed with another opportunity to compete in another Jiu-Jitsu World League tournament. I’ll be soon turning 38 and it feels great to push my mind and body even further than before. Don’t let age stop you from accomplishments and being active! 👊🏿
I ordered the iPhone DUO through both Apple’s website (within 7 mins of pre-orders opening) and then my phone carrier. T-Mobile said to expect the iPhone DUO to deliver earlier than November 4th. So let’s see 🫡
It's funny that when I shared the same iPhone DUO compromises last month in a post, I got so much hate. I was told I cannot state these facts without owning the device. But yet here people seem to accept because it's an account with a larger following. 🤔

Sifu runs incredibly well on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Another PC game ported and optimized well for iOS and Android. Hopefully Sloclap devs can port Absolver next.

Here are some gaming and performance tests between the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Apple’s M5 iPad Pro. I tested both devices in Wuthering Waves, Fortnite, & Where Winds Meet. To my surprise the Dimensity 9500 held up quite well against the base M5 chip.

REDMAGIC 12 Pro seems to be the only device capable of handling the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 to its full potential. Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, iQOO 16, OnePlus 16, etc have all failed to showcase the performance gains Qualcomm promised. According to GB7 and 3DMark, so far SD8EEG6 = SD8G5 with the exception of the amazing REDMAGIC 12 Pro!
I finally get my hands on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 next week; but as of now what I am seeing from other reviewers regarding the performance is disheartening. Here are the performance results from the latest iQOO 16; again, housing the S8EEG6.
