Have you ever wondered why you have to buy data on your home router and also buy a mobile data for when you are not at home? Let me explain it better. You pay for data on your home router. You step out of the house and it is useless to you. So you buy a second bundle for your phone. Same network. Same towers. Same company collecting your money twice. So, you have two separate data bundles with expiry dates on them but you can only use one at a time. If you are at home or office, the mobile data will be wasting away. If you are away from the office and home, the router bundle with an expiry date on it will be wasting away. If you are only at home at night, when you do the maths, you realize that you only get to use the bundle 15 days in a month but you think you are enjoying unlimited one month broadband data. Have you ever wondered why, in 2026, it has to be this way? It does not. It is a business decision, not a technical limitation. Let’s look at what operators did over a decade ago in other countries. PHILIPPINES (2016): PLDT launched a home broadband plan with 50GB a month, of which 6GB could be shared with up to four mobile lines and used outside the home. One subscription. One bill. They called it the country's first plan that cuts across home and mobile broadband. In simple terms. PLDT made it possible for people to use the same data bundle they have at home on their mobile devices even when they are not at home. CZECH REPUBLIC (2014): T-Mobile launched "Shared Internet" in February 2014. One data allowance shared between a customer's phone and a second device, with a separate data SIM for 99 Czech koruna a month, no new contract, same speed as the main SIM. If the shared data ran out, you topped up through the main SIM. By August 2014 they went further: up to five family members could share one data allowance, with up to five extra data SIMs for tablets and laptops on top. In USA, UK, Australia, etc. the madness we allow here do not exist. AT&T launched it Mobile Share in the United States in 2012. You pick one monthly broadband data allowance and share it across 10 devices regardless of where you are in the country. O2 launched its Sharer Plan and Family Sharer Plan in 2014 in UK. Optus did the same in AUSTRALIA. These are all operators in serious countries making efforts to be fair to their customers and this has been on since 12 to 14 years ago. So the technology exists. The billing systems exist. Customers elsewhere have been using it. Why then are Nigerians quiet about it? For the same reason nobody questioned data expiry for years. People believe it cannot work any other way. We were told data must expire, so we accepted it. We were told home data stays at home, so we accepted that too. Nobody asked the company to explain why, so the answer became "that is just how it works." It is not how it works. It is how it is sold. Every unquestioned rule you live with is a rule someone chose. Start asking why. KAA #kaa_truths

I'm warming up my email. Another opportunity to demonstrate that my parents invested in a good education.
Veritas and zenith <<<<<<< Where is my dividend
24
The fact that this tweet is as correct today as it was almost 6 months ago makes me wonder why @ngxgrp and @SECNigeria hasn't sanctioned both Veritas Registrars and @ZenithBank.
Veritas Registrars will disappoint many first-time Zenith Bank investors who are expecting dividend payments today.

NGX traders can't wait for Monday morning to do to @aradelholdings what they did to @UBAGroup earlier this year. The worst thing they can attempt is to pay some emergency social media investors with BA Banking and Finance to drop taking points. teapaw.org/i/trending/21164265757…

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

Two things I noticed at my company before we had layoffs last year: 1. Budget cuts At my last company they stopped approving expenses for client lunches, dinners and travel. That’s when we knew money was tight. 2. Executive & upper management departures They had insider knowledge where the direction of the company was headed and wanted to escape the sinking ship.
Here's what I've observed before layoffs at a big tech company: - Budget cuts to travel, conferences and contractors - Colleagues who left aren't backfilled - Managers suddenly become individual contributors Then at a startup: - Expense audits for software spend, AI tools and more - Whispers of board meetings that didn't go well - Colleagues who suddenly start departing When you see two or three of these at once, start updating your resume and networking before the announcement, not after.

I'll never understand why Nigerian entities wait for public outcry or regulatory action before doing the right thing.
*UPDATE ON MY EKEDC METERING AND SOLAR POWER STORY* _______ 1. I have been astounded by public reaction to my story of 19-Oct-2026 of how EKEDC billed me and ordered my meter disconnection for not consuming their electricity. I received calls and messages from far and wide even from people I didn't know. The story generated considerable interest nationwide. 2. The events that followed my story give me further confidence that Nigerians are good people and genuinely want a better country. Consider this: I posted my story on two WhatsApp platforms in the afternoon. Before the end of the day, possibly up to 10 people who didn't know me but saw it forwarded it to NERC (the regulator). NERC immediately forwarded it to EKEDC demanding an explanation. Meanwhile, EKEDC was separately being innundated by many more Nigerians demanding explanation for what happened! Within 24h, I had received calls from 3 EKEDC managers apologizing profusely for what happened and promising to replace my meter (which I don't believe is faulty) with a smart meter within a week! All the calls from EKEDC were very sincerely polite. 3. I thank everyone who did anything to publicize or help resolve the matter. I want everyone of such people to know that they are helping to make Nigeria a better country. 4. The incident has thrown up an issue which I had been aware of all along but which has hardly been publicly discussed. This is it: As more Nigerians resort to renewable energy, mostly solar, to help themselves out of the dual whammy of poor availability and higher (Band A) tariff for public power, what are the implications for the DisCos (the electricity distribution companies)? 5. The incident at my property was basically that an EKEDC personnel assumed that if their power meter at a property is not running while electrical appliances are running, then it is either that the resident has fraudulently bypassed the meter or that the meter is faulty. It did not cross his mind that the customer could be on a completely different supply system. Clearly, an immediate action for all DisCos is to sensitise their field staff to this reality. 6. So, how does a DisCo establish that a meter that isn't running has neither been bypassed nor is faulty? In my opinion, DisCos should have a right to demand verification perhaps monthly. The verification would be like what I had done with better-informed EKEDC field inspectors in the past: For a few minutes, bypass the solar inverter to switch to public power, and watch the meter register consumption. That should satisfy the field inspector. 7. However, beyond this controversy, there is an ominous threat to the entire public power sector. Here it is: In many countries, public power business is sustained largely by industrial consumers who typically pay the highest tariff. Those high tariffs make it possible for the power companies to charge affordable tariffs for domestic consumption. However, in Nigeria, most serious industries have invested in their own power generation. This leaves the public power companies relying on domestic consumers for sustenance. Today, the "Band A" customers bear the brunt of the high tariffs that keep the DisCos afloat. 8. It turns out that the Band A consumers are also usually the consumers with the financial resources to invest in solar power that can take them off-grid totally. And that is happening fast. The result is dwindling income for DisCos. 9. My view is that DisCos must reinvent themselves to survive. Today, they all rely on power allocated to them from the national grid to serve their customers. That is not sustainable. They need a new business model. Thanks again, everyone. How did people without technical AND commercial capability win the oil blocks? Maybe someone should organise a training for YOUR staff on how to carry out a proper bidding process.
So you bidded for an oil block, you won, you’ve paid the signature bonus and have been awarded a lease. So what’s the next step? In the past, many companies were unable to develop their blocks because they lacked the commercial or technical capability. The consequence of this was that these assets sat idle, depriving the Nigerian people of jobs and the government of revenue. To change this trend, the NUPRC is for the next two days holding an onboarding programme for the latest awardees of the Petroleum Prospecting Licence (PPL). Subject matter experts with decades of experience drawn from various departments in the NUPRC as well as external facilitators will provide new licensees with the knowledge that will take them from exploration to first oil. The entire 2-day event will be streamed live on our social media pages. Follow the NUPRC on X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram to be part of it. youtube.com/live/2xa9l6ULhsA…

GDP rankings do not feed people. Nigeria may be Africa’s largest economy, but its poverty numbers expose an economy that is growing without its people.

Nigeria has a thorughly useless elite. That road passes the highest tax paying zone in the entire country. None of them can speak up.
A group of Business leaders gathered at Oriental Hotel in VI in Lagos last week openly lamented the state of Ozumba Mbadiwe the road leading to the hotel. Today I asked one of them how come so many powerful people could be so loudly critical and none could make a Public statement to those they pay taxes to and have a right to hold accountable. The answer I got reaffirmed my view that the development failure in Nigeria flows from a crisis of elite.
