"Becoming Ben" from Sunday NFL Countdown
Bears Coach Ben Johnson’s offensive mind was developing long before he ever reached the NFL. Here's the story of how Johnson began drawing his own plays at 10 years old and the path that it put him on to becoming one of the league's preeminent playcallers.

Excellent piece by @markdtooley. We need to rebuild Christian social action around the things that endure. With courage, civility, patience, and hope.
MAGA Christianity will end. Historians, and God, will judge whether it had constructive accomplishments that compensate for the dangers to which it contributed. Evangelicals who supported it will decide what replaces it. If they are wise, they will side with historical patience, liberty for all, limited expectations of politics, providential hope, and Christian realism. How they choose will help decide the fate of the nation. @thedispatch

If you gather to worship Jesus in peace this Lord's Day, do so with gratitude.
Our brothers and sisters are being slaughtered mercilessly all over the world for their allegiance to Jesus.
Lord, sustain the faith of Your suffering children and guard the comfortable from calloused indifference.

The happiest people I've met don't necessarily have the easiest lives or the most impressive accomplishments. But they tend to have four things in common:
-They take their faith or life philosophy seriously.
-They invest in their family relationships.
-They cultivate real friendships.
-They find meaning in work that creates value and serves others.
These are the four areas of life worth paying attention to if you want to live a more fulfilling life.
I often get this response when I quote Chuck Colson. Here's the thing: Chuck owned his previous life. It was his story. Christ saved him from sin. His message was always, "Yes, that was me, but I'm a new man. And you can be, too, through the power of the gospel."
Tragic. I've been in that beautiful square multiple times. Praying for Krakow.

Loved this perspective on Billy Graham by Grant Wacker:
“Regardless of the stated text, every sermon went back to John 3:16: ‘For God so loved the world …’”

Lord, you have been our refuge in every generation. Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God. You return mankind to the dust, saying, “Return, descendants of Adam.”

This is completely untrue. TGC continues to put out tons and tons of resources on these issues and they’ve not discouraged people in churches from addressing them, but they’ve also also encouraged evangelism. We can do both at the same time. Also don’t scare quote the Gospel. It’s the power of God into salvation.
Pastor Michael Clary discusses how The Gospel Coalition's emphasis on "gospel-centered" ministry, winsomeness, and third-wayism discourages conservative Christians from addressing moral issues like abortion, marriage, and sexuality in the public sphere.

“A nation that does not demand high standards of character in its leaders will end up being a nation of barbarians.” - Chuck Colson
Exactly. Twitter isn’t real life. Tell your friends.
When Christian politicians sever decency from conservative policy Christian progressives like Adam Hamilton and James Talarico are all too happy to pick it up and pare it with progressive policy. Their wins are instructive. Decency helps persuade people to your policy position. (1 Peter 3:15-16).

The best thing you can accomplish today to make a difference in this country is to invite your neighbor to dinner and tell them how the gospel has changed your life—and how it can change theirs.
Chuck Colson: "We cannot give what we do not have. We cannot impart values we do not hold. We cannot do until we are. To be the church--our highest calling--depends on understanding the very character of the body of Christ on earth. Only then can we understand what it means to live as the people of God, serving God in today's world."
