#StatsCan says Canadians donated $9.6B in 2017, up 7.7% from 2016. #Donor numbers still trending down by 1%. Median donation $300 except seniors who average $2,500. Still targeting 45-54? They are 19% of all donors; seniors are 30%. Food for thought!

Sadly, most people do not see the connexion between proper hospice care and a dignified death journey. The Quebec Government made access to hospice care part of their 2015 electoral platform. Other provinces should follow suit.

If I ran a foundation, I would have most of the grants go to strengthen the fundraising and civic engagement of the best grantees, rather than to episodic program funding unable to sustain itself after the grant period is over. Independence, not dependency.
