This is what it looks like when you’re critically out of your depth, yet still trying to speak about things you have absolutely no understanding of -- things you neither care about nor even grasp, because they lie far beyond the horizon of your knowledge and your thinking.
Go ask those questions to your Russian counterparts whether they should keep grinding hundreds of thousands more of their own people into a bloody pulp over a few square kilometers of territory.
And no -- you are not smarter than the Ukrainians who have been fighting for years over those “few square kilometers” in Donbas.
It means nothing to you but for people here on the ground, the Sloviansk–Kramatorsk area is the largest defensive stronghold, fortified and prepared for battle for over a decade, and one the Russians have been trying to break for just as long, including four years of full-scale war.
What looks like a stupid inconvenience to your boss, something standing in the way of what he imagines will be profitable deals with the Kremlin, is, for Ukraine, the main defensive line protecting the country’s heartland from a deeper breakthrough.
Ukrainians refuse to surrender it not because they are less clever than JD Vance, but because they understand exactly what the consequences would be and what the word of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is worth.
And that’s not even getting into the fact that this is the homeland of hundreds of thousands of people, their homes, their land, which they would be forced to abandon.
It’s about abandoning our own people and their hopes, about a nation and its sovereignty, things that are often absent from this kind of discussion.
You see, people here in Ukraine are dealing with matters far more serious and consequential than posturing in front of TV cameras, talk this delusional arrogant BS, and acting as a rally agitator for a corrupt authoritarian in Central Europe that your boss likes very much.

I was at the opening ceremony of @milanocortina26 where Kirsty Coventry, head of the IOC, gave a speech that sounded like it was written by ChatGPT calling on athletes to inspire courage, kindness and resilience. A few days later she banned Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych for wearing a helmet remembering his fallen comrades. I wonder how it must feel to be hated by 95% of the world right now. independent.co.uk/sport/olym…

Wow, this speech from Mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani 👏💯
"They command us not to believe what we see"
"They compel us as George Orwell wrote nearly 80 years ago, to reject the evidence of our eyes and our ears"
"And they would succeed, were it not for the many among us who read the scripture, but who live the scripture"
"Those who refuse to abandon the stranger"
"I speak of Renee Good, whose final words to the man who murdered her moments later were: I'm not mad at you"
"I speak of Alex Pretti who died as he lived, caring for the stranger. Here was a man who held the hand of the afraid and the afflicted in their final moments"
"Here was a man who dedicated his life to healing those who he never met"
"ICE shot him 10 times because he did something they could never fathom doing, he extended his arm towards a stranger"
"Not to push her down, but help her up"
"Let us offer a new path: one of defiance through compassion"

Yes, NATO is dead now.
And the final nail in its coffin was driven by the biggest useful idiot the Kremlin and Beijing have ever had in the history of the Western world.
He did it out of his megalomania, ultra-vulgarity, his hunger for the easiest money and the cheapest attention, shallowness, ignorance, and an addiction to self-glorification in front of TV cameras, which has long since crossed into madness.
He did it out of sheer amorality, too: an insatiable urge to humiliate, humiliate, humiliate those who depend on him, for nothing but petty self-affirmation -- while groveling before powerful and criminal enemies, just to get a scrap of their approval and feel like he belongs among the big bad guys.
But his is not the end. It is the beginning of a new alliance in a new world, a change that has been overdue for far too long.
The nations that remain faithful to the values of the free world will stay together.
And now, on the front line of that defense, stands Ukraine, with unmatched experience of the warfare of a new era, and a military exceptional in its resilience and heroism against one of the largest and most relentless war machines in human history.
Now it is time to GET FREAKING SERIOUS and truly unite around a European, Euro-Atlantic Ukraine: to help it, and to learn from it, and to absorb its priceless experience and inventions for the collective defense of the democratic West.
The arsenal of democracy is here now.

What’s striking is that Russians who for decades theatrically wrung their hands over the tragedy and victims of hunger and cold during the World War II “Siege of Leningrad,” shouting “We will not forget, we will not forgive!!” -- are now the very same people who go into ecstasy on social media at every piece of news that, because of missile strikes, millions of people in Kyiv have been left without electricity and heat in the dead of winter; that somewhere in Ukraine bread and water have vanished from supermarket shelves; that there are huge lines for fuel at gas stations; no running water; heating pipes bursting from freezing temperatures; massive problems with transport; families in despair looking for anywhere to evacuate their children; and elderly people living alone dying in cold apartments unless neighbors and volunteers come to their rescue.
Soon it will be the fifth year that “great Russia” has been unable to defeat the Ukrainian army on the battlefield, so “just ordinary Russians” and their propaganda machine are now wildly proud of how valiantly they are waging war on Ukrainian children and old people in their homes.
Honestly -- every time you think you’ve already seen it all and nothing can shock you anymore, fascist Russia still manages to astonish you with just how far it has fallen morally, and to what levels of savagery, loss of reason, conscience, and basic human decency it has descended.
Ukraine will survive this, too, but this mark of de-humanization will stay on Russia's forehead forever.

The boy was apprehensive about going back to school, thinking that all the children had forgotten him.

❗️ "My sister is sleeping under three blankets because it's so cold at home," - Ukrainian 🇺🇦 tennis player Marta Kostyuk gave a poignant speech at the tournament in Australia 🇦🇺
“I want to say a few words about Ukraine. I play every day with pain in my heart. Thousands of people are now without electricity and hot water. It's minus 20 degrees outside, so living in this reality every day is very, very painful. And, you know, it's very hot here in Brisbane, so it's hard to even imagine that. But my sister is sleeping under three blankets because it's so cold at home. So I was very moved and happy to see so many Ukrainian fans and flags this week."
In the final of the WTA 500 in Brisbane,
she lost to world number one Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 4:6 and 3:6.

The Wall Street Journal alleges that the real motivation behind Trump’s eagerness to force Ukraine into an ugly surrender is the idea that a lot of people close to him can make a lot of money doing business and deals in Russia.
If this is true, beyond the disgusting morality of this and the huge geopolitical risks that it creates, none of these people salivating over their future riches are going to make a penny, and perhaps do a lot worse.
I was once the largest foreign investor in Russia and I can say with certainty that the Russians aren’t going to let anyone profit in any way. They will talk nice at the outset to attract the investment, but once it’s there, they will steal, defraud, arrest, torture or even kill to make sure that no American makes any money. I’ve seen it so many times it’s almost universal.
So, this shocking initiative is not only terrible policy, it’s spectacularly stupid business.

This is what healthy relations between nations look like.
And the only source of “nazism” in this region comes from one state — the one that emerged from centuries of Mongol slavery and now suffers from a deep inferiority complex, trying to compensate for it by attempting to enslave everyone around it.

Incredible speech from the UN Security Council.
UKRAINE IS NOT FOR SALE.
“Ukraine has officially received from the American side a draft plan. We outline the fundamental principles that matter to our people. We agree to work on the plan's provisions in a way that would bring about a just end to the war.”
“In this context, allow me to make several critical points.”
“1. First, while Ukraine stands ready to engage in meaningful negotiations to end this war including at the leaders’ level our red lines are clear and unwavering. There will never be any recognition, formal or otherwise, of Ukrainian territory temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation as Russian. Our land is not for sale.”
“Ukraine will not accept any limits on its right to self-defense or on the size and capabilities of our Armed Forces. Nor will we tolerate any infringement on our sovereignty, including our sovereign right to choose the alliances we want to join. Any genuine peace process must respect a fundamental principle: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, and nothing about Europe without Europe.”
“And let me be equally clear: we will not reward the genocidal intent that underpins Russian aggression by undermining our identity, including our language.”
“2. Second, support for Ukraine is indispensable. Peace requires strengthened security and sustained financial assistance to Ukraine. Reinforcing Ukraine's defense capabilities is not an escalation — it is the only path to compelling Russia to engage constructively in international peace efforts. In this regard, we express profound gratitude to all partners and allies. This support is an investment in the rules-based international order and global peace.”
“3. Third, the Kremlin regime will not stop unless it is stopped through unyielding and concerted pressure. There is only one realistic path to ending this war: Russia must be compelled to retreat — economically, politically, and militarily.”
