Oftentimes the problems with faulty metadata doesn't come from what happens after a songwriter registers a song, but at the beginning, when a songwriter registers incorrect splits thinking it was correct. This happens way more than people like to admit.

Theres an increasing number of fraudsters in the music industry. They find songs that should be registered, but they are either not registered at all, or missing co-writers that should be there. These songs get streams, which means there's royalties to collect. Then they re-register songs with their names listed as the songwriters. The fraudsters collect royalties for years unnoticed (including backpay) because songwriters and publishers don't ever check. Writers never get that money back. Get a good publisher, or learn how to be one, register all songs, with all co-writers + splits to protect yourself and the songs.

When songwriters sign up with multiple PRO's, registering multiple publisher accounts, it actually makes things much worse for their catalog. Don't do it.

A tiny % of artists make $100K+ per year. How dare artists expect their managers to be on call 24/7 for only 10-20% of their earnings...which by the way is only $10-$20K per year. ...and they live in Los Angeles, so managers basically live in their cars.

If your deal with Publisher A ends, Publisher B should be taking over the catalog transfer. That usually means registering the works under their administration and/or initiating the transfer process. Sometimes that creates an overlapping claim, which Publisher A then releases. What usually does NOT happen is Publisher A simply “deleting” itself and leaving the song publisher-less. Publishing databases generally don’t work that cleanly. So if Publisher A is still collecting long after the deal ended, and Publisher B has done nothing to fix it, that’s a major red flag. A good publisher doesn’t just collect royalties, but manages the catalog.

When a good music publisher fixes metadata for their songwriter clients, it helps the other writers collect royalties too. When a bad music publisher screws up metadata for their songwriter clients, it screws up the other writers' royalties too.

As ppl continue to build, learn how to build faster, and their projects get more ambitious and larger in size, there will be more demand for compute...builders by nature keep building and will continue building... No one wants less right now...everyone wants more and more. Compute is a drug.

I can now officially say that many jobs in music administration will be going away very soon. We've already reduced headcount. I'm convinced that, outside of creative, finance/HR, and sales positions, most administrative work can now be powered and run by AI. Those saying AI can make mistakes are correct. But when these systems are built and trained properly, with strong evals and human oversight where needed, the efficiency and accuracy can far exceed traditional workflows. It's not as magical as writing a single prompt and suddenly having a working product. It takes a lot of work to build the systems, train them on the right data privately, create guardrails, test edge cases, and continuously evaluate the output. From an economic and efficiency standpoint, it increasingly makes sense for companies to adopt AI carefully and push toward this new frontier. It's better for the industry and songwriters.

Grok + Grok harness is really good and what's crazy is that this is the worst it will ever be.

I'm really enjoying @grok 4.5...once it get to around 350K tokens used / 500K, I noticed it starts to miss some stuff, but very good before it hits that point.

It's quite common in music publishing, where we discover co-writers claiming 100% of the writer's share of a song through their publisher/admins when it's clearly a "co-write". These mistakes means that they are collecting the money that belongs to their co-writers.

🎵What is music publishing? If you’re a songwriter, this is a simple guide for you. It breaks down exactly how your songs make money, the royalties you’re owed, the 50/50 split, and why so many creators are leaving cash on the table. 👇👇👇👇

You drop a song… but who gets paid? Here’s the royalty pie: 🍰 Songwriting → 50% 📜 Publishing → 50% Example: $100 made = $50 to the writers + $50 to publishing. Simple breakdown every songwriter should know 👇
