Red Rose #71 Linda Uttley, who sadly passed away in 2009, was a force of nature on and off the pitch and would have celebrated her 60th birthday on 26 October 2026. Read more about her here 👉 englandrugby.com/follow/news…
Red Roses tribute graphic. A vintage photo shows Linda Uttley standing on grass in front of a dark green hedge, arms folded, wearing a navy and white quartered rugby shirt, white shorts and black cycling shorts. Two circular inset photos sit on the right: one of her running with the ball in an England kit during a match, and one of a memorial display of poppy-style tributes, with one label reading “Linda Uttley.” The Red Roses England Rugby logo is in the top left. White text at the bottom reads: “Remembering Red Roses legend Linda Uttley.”

Nothing captured the childhood trauma of Sunday nights in the 90s like Heartbeat, Songs of Praise and Last of the Summer Wine. Every show brought you closer to the absolute horror of Monday morning. The Antiques Roadshow theme tune was basically a death sentence with violins.

I had the honour of working with Linda at @RFU when I joined in November 2008. An amazing person who inspired eveyone who knew her. Loved her Wasps, Teddington & @RedRosesRugby stories. A legendary figure of the game, arm wrestling stories all true. Much loved & missed.

Loved my first trip to QPR. Great, tight stadium, atmosphere and fans great (obviously helps with a 5-0 win), friendly people, good vantage point. When I do the 92 I’m doing a ranking list - Loftus Road won’t be near the bottom.

Clearly a decent footballing side, Swansea couldn't live with Rangers on the day. Not sure any side could have on that display. Brilliant energy from start to finish, combined with superb passing and movement, and some fine individual performances. As good as it gets really.

I've always thought that @QPR fans could dress in their "Sunday best" at one away game a season in memory of one of our all time greats. The immaculately attired Alec Stock 🕴️ Especially in the 60th anniversary season of that memorable 66-67 double triumph. What do fans think?

Replying to @RobertElms
@RobertElms On the bowler hat theme, @pnefc have an annual 'Gentry Day' in which bowler hats play a large part. It is to honour Prestonians and former players who have passed away. They did this at Loftus Road in 2005 from memory.

I did a little bit on @BBCRadioLondon with @1AaronPaul this morning talking about the proposed £87m investment in the mighty @AFCWimbledon. This is all quite exciting. In short, the fans keep control and we can stop feeding off scraps. Community impact a big thing, too.
