To be clear: Victor Davis Hanson rejects the idea that "the war" itself cost Republicans the midterms, that's what he means by "It's not the war."
The first 38 days were a spectacular success, in his telling, with approval over 50%. The failure was not explaining the existential nuclear threat, stopping short of finishing the job, and then months of haggling that let Iran claim they stopped Trump (now I'll add my own comment: and massive amplification of the Iran regime's chosen narrative by a variety of powerful domestic and foreign adversary actors and bot farms).
He also sees this just as a piece of many elements that contributed to the 2026 "shellacking."
Why was the war necessary? There's a Sen. John Kennedy clip circulating that puts words to the reality, the story that never became part of the narrative. He said he had seen the intelligence: Iran was building up ballistic and cruise missiles and drones so it could restart its nuclear program and tell America and Israel that if they tried to stop it, Iran would destroy the Middle East and could now hit London, Paris, and Germany.
That is the narrative that could have been repeated and amplified, but wasn't. In Victor's presentation, this was a massive failure of messaging combined with incomplete military execution, not the decision to act itself.

Now, he says President Trump needs to hit Iran “very, very hard.”
“Pickaxe Mountain.”
“For two or three weeks.”
Hanson is convinced that Trump “did the impossible” in the beginning of the Iran war, “but they didn’t explain it.”
“They didn’t say to the American people, 7 presidents said you can’t let them get a nuclear weapon.”
“They’re closer than ever before.”
“This is an existential threat.”
“When the war broke out, he had over 50% approval.”
“And they had a spectacular success for the first 38 days.”
“There were mistakes, but the biggest problem was we had almost won.”
“Then once they stopped in 38 [days], they were not quite done yet.”
“They hadn’t prepared for the Hormuz.”
Then, he says they failed by letting negotiations drag on for months on end.
“We still have eight months before the midterm.”
“Six months.”
“Five months.”
“Four months.”
“Three months.”
“They got into a haggling with people who don’t tell the truth and have no intention to negotiate.”
And now, he says Iran’s leaders are celebrating.
“These people are sky-high, high-fiving themselves that they stopped Trump with the midterms.”

For four years all the RW men were calling for new crusade. Templar memes were everywhere. They elected a Christian president and he appointed a Secretary of War that had a Templar cross tattoo and Deus Vult. Templar and Crusader memes intensified. Then he went and actually did it. And they all had a meltdown. They weren't actually interested in a new crusade. The Western moral imperitive to vanquush evil wasn't really that important. Regardless of political party, politicians need to work together to do what is best for the British people.
As an activist, I’ve done exactly the same. I’ve worked with, or offered to work with, politicians from all political parties. Through that approach, I’ve helped introduce policy and law changes, as well as secure millions in funding for rape victims.
I’ve been heavily criticised for doing so, but I don’t care. It worked.
The country and its people must always come first.
An enemy within the gates.
I see a lot of people are celebrating Tucker Carlson, and patting themselves on the back because Democrats won the midterms.
Let me make something very clear.
Tucker Carlson took himself out of Republican coalition. He said himself he's no longer a Republican.
He made a concerted and deliberate effort to undermine every single thing that President Trump did in the last two years.
He was against the war. Everybody is against war. A six-year-old child understands that war is bad.
President Trump knew there was a threat. Trump decided to eliminate that threat against the regime that had killed thousands of Americans for 47 years. A regime the chance death to America, and that was on the brink of having a nuclear weapon.
America has enemies and those enemies wish to do is harm and they have done us harm.
I have no issue with anybody being against war because that is the right stance to take. We don't want war. We have never wanted war.
But people like Tucker Carlson decided to burn the house down.
Tucker lied. He said there was no threat, he said President Trump was duped by Israel, he said Trump was going to use nuclear weapons.
All fake and all false.
He called President Trump, the antichrist.
Tucker made a deliberate effort to try to destroy the Republican Party and the Trump coalition that he built over the last 10 years.
Even Trump gave Tucker the boot.
And that is why people like him should not be accepted back into the Republican Party when they took themselves out of the Republican Party
JD Vance was on the campaign trail, urging these people not to throw out the baby with the bathwater. That is exactly what people like Tucker Carlson did.
They are not on our side. They have never been on our side and they're demoralization campaign had a big effect on the midterms. It's not the sole reason, but it had a massive effect.
And people like him will do it again come 2028. if they don't get their way, they will burn the house down
You shall know them by their fruits. Communism is the liberal centre. The difference is one strikes at the heart of what Dugin holds dear. The other teaches you to hate everything around. One benefits Dugin and his multipolar aim. The other weakens it.

What's retarded about this, is that other than a small inner circle of security, Trump's wider security was provided via the Biden admin. Trump wasn't the president and had no power over the FBI. If the FBI were involved and scrubbed the evidence clean, it was on the say so of the Biden admin.

- There was never press conferences where they detailed all the information they know currently and where the investigation stands at the moment
- He was a very young g kid there with a rangefinder (used to measure distances, very suspicious)
- CNN streamed it live, which Joe Rogan does not believe they did for any other rally. And certainly not for a rally that's in the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania
- They wouldn't let people be on that roof because the Secret service lady said it was sloped and it was dangerous
- The snipers that were on the other roof was a, a steeper pitch (It made no f*cking sense)
- Random people saw him and pointed him out on the roof with a gun for a long time before it happened
- The kid had 5 phones
- His body was immediately cremated
- There was some indications that there was a phone that had been traveling from outside the FBI offices in D.C to where this kid lived multiple times
We need answers.
