Mom Chalaine Scott and her husband had three kids, all under 5, and it had already been an exhausting day of travel. They stopped to eat at a TGI Fridays inside the airport. She stopped in her tracks, held out her arms, and said, “C’mon, ain’t no crying in here, let’s go get a treat!” The little boy, who is usually very shy and rarely goes to anyone, wrapped his arms around her and squeezed tight. More than 600 strangers donated, raising over $12,000. The two women have stayed connected. Bell later teamed up with the mom to support her foundation, which helps mothers facing difficult medical diagnoses during pregnancy. Their message: “Kindness is the cure.” Sometimes the smallest moments of kindness mean the most to a stressed-out parent. And sometimes, the world notices.
