1976 #BlackStudies syllabus from a class my mother took as a pre-med student at City College, CUNY. Nice to see her notes. She passed away last year.
Happy to know she read. #EricWilliams Capitalism and Slavery 🇹🇹 #Maroon societies.
The Caribbean and Brazil in conversation.
It’s not all negative. I’ve made/making a few contributions to Black History Month, which it still is by the way.
I’ll never understand Caribbean people in Britain who love up the monarchy, or elitist titles and social accolades bestowed to them by this nation or its commonwealth representatives. I’m. It sure who they’re flexing to. But in 2026 it’s time we unlearned colonial conditioning.
Obviously many engage in these events for neoliberal capitalistic purposes or maybe for egotistical purposes. But if we ever going to get anywhere collectively, stepping back from these events and opportunities is a start, as is being critical of them.
Everyone shows up in the world with their own renderings of their Blackness or African descended heritage, so I’m not out here to judge anyone. But when I’m seeing pictures of people kee keeing it up with the establishment, I just don’t get it.

The icon in this photo is Jama Elmi and you can hear about his fashion awakening, his use of colour, and how it also connects to his job as a support worker for disabled adults in the clip below:
Sega been inspired by Black culture for years. Micheal Jackson and his production team produced Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in 1994. I think they were uncredited but still.
Yeah real nerd over here. 1/4 of my music catalogue is video game and anime original soundtracks. The other 3/4s is a an eclectic mix of genres, anything from Detroit House, Classical, Garage, Grime, Jazz, Soul, RnB, Hip Hop, Breakbeat, Rock, J-Rock, Pop, and much more.
