pupin.org/analysis/silence-i… Fewer reported incidents do not necessarily mean greater safety. Sometimes the numbers fall because trust has disappeared. In our new report, “Silence Is Not Safety: Rights Before Politics in Kosovo,” we examine what happens when security is measured only through reported incidents, while fear, distrust, administrative pressure, and limited access to justice remain outside the statistics. From Gazimestan and allegations of police misconduct to Visoki Dečani, property rights, and changes in the international security presence, the report asks one central question: Can we speak of improved security when people are losing faith in the institutions meant to protect them? Our conclusion is that the rights of the Serbian community cannot depend on the political moment. Independent verification, transparency, meaningful access to justice, and preventive protection are needed before instability becomes visible. Silence should never be mistaken for stability.

We condemn the removal of memorial plaque dedicated to two Kosovo Serb journalists Đuro Slavuj & Ranko Perenić, who went missing in 1998. The repeated vandalism of this memorial is deeply concerning. Memorials honouring victims & missing persons should be respected & preserved.🔽

GRAČANICA AND PRIZREN, KOSOVO — The Diocese of Raška and Prizren has issued a statement warning that the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community in Kosovo face mounting institutional pressure that threatens their long-term future. Church leaders said years of dialogue with Kosovo authorities and international representatives have failed to halt what they described as a pattern of discrimination, leaving trust in Kosovo institutions — particularly the Kosovo Police — at its lowest level since the end of the 1998–99 conflict.

Today, I visited the Monastery of the Patriarchate of Peć in Peja/Peć, Kosovo one of the most sacred places in the history of the Eastern Orthodox Church of Serbia. This holy place is a reminder that houses of worship must be protected, religious freedom must be defended, and the faith and dignity of every community must be honored. I did not come to deepen division. I came to listen, to pray, and to stand for peace, reconciliation, and healing across Kosovo and the Balkans. May God protect every family, every church, every monastery, and every community seeking to live in peace. @SpiritDiplomats #SpiritualDiplomat #Kosovo #Peć #FaithAndDiplomacy #ReligiousFreedom #PrayForPeace – at Kosovo

🔸️ Saturday of Souls 🍚🕯️🔸 Today, the Saturday before Judgement (Meatfare) Sunday, is the Saturday of Souls. This is the first of a series of Saturdays set aside in the Orthodox liturgical calendar to remember and pray for all the souls of those who have reposed - Saturday being the traditional day of prayer for the deceased, as Christ lay dead in the tomb on Saturday. Since many throughout history have suffered death in foreign lands, at sea, in the wilderness, and from famine, war, exposure to harsh winters, poverty and all manner of other deaths, they were often deprived of the customary psalter readings and memorial services. Therefore, the Holy Fathers in their wisdom established a general commemoration of all the departed souls, so that those who did not receive the customary obsequies might still be remembered. The Church also prays especially for the poor and for those who had no one to request Memorial Services on their behalf. On the Saturday of Souls, we commemorate all those who have fallen asleep, from Adam and Eve to the most recently departed. We also pray in particular for our deceased relatives and friends. The first Saturday of Souls takes place fittingly the day before we hear the Gospel of the Last Judgment, inviting us to pause and recall our inescapable death when we shall appear before Christ to give an account of our lives. We entreat the dread and unerring Judge to show the departed His compassion, and to place them in the promised Paradise of delight. During this memorial service, prayers are offered for those who have reposed, and a list of their names is recited. The faithful often prepare a traditional memorial dish called kollyva, made of sweetened boiled wheat, raisins, almonds, and pomegranate seeds. “The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them” (Wisdom 3:1). The innocent souls are shown in the right hand of God, represented in Holy Scripture as a place of divine honor: “I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10); “He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19).

❗️Civil society organizations’ reaction to the government’s sudden measures, adopted during a caretaker mandate, which will significantly hinder daily life and movement for many members of the Kosovo Serb community, and for some may make continued residence impossible.
