A wafer goes through 1,000+ steps inside a fab, and more than half of them exist just to measure what was built. And as chips go 3D, the most critical structures are buried where today's inline tools can't see them. We recently announced our ₹9.2 Cr investment in Makr Microsystems, which is building an Acoustic AFM that uses ultrasound to see beneath the surface. It's exactly the kind of deep IP India's semiconductor ecosystem needs. Read my thesis below: linkedin.com/pulse/why-we-in… @BluehillVC IN/AIF1/24-25/1513

1. In 2006,the Sonia Gandhi-led UPA decided to strengthen the humanities depts in #IITs in order to introduce the Ambedkarite-Periyarite trojan within the IIT System. This trojan has been steroidally strengthened, not weakened,by the panoramic hyper Ambedkarism of NDA since 2014.

did my B.Tech at IIT Bombay and my PhD at IIT Delhi. I've been a professor for 14 years now. In 22 years of watching the IIT/IIIT system closely, I have never once witnessed a teacher discriminate against a student on the basis of caste. During my B.Tech, most of us had no idea what caste our batchmates belonged to. Many of my close friends were SC/ST. We never discussed it. It never entered any conversation or decision. Not once. Our exposure to the humanities department was limited, though — the term "Brahmanical patriarchy" didn't even exist back then. As a teacher, I don't ask a student's name before solving their doubt. Often I don't know their name at all — some of my classes have 300+ students. We treat them all the same. So does every colleague I know. So did every professor who taught me. Social media has now filled vulnerable students' heads with a lot of manufactured grievance about caste discrimination that, in my experience, doesn't exist.

😭😭😭 My hot take is that Elon is not nearly rich enough and the world would be a better place if he had 10X more capital to put at work.
A beautiful surprise

India mein koi 5 minutes number Google kar le to doodh ka doodh paani ka paani ho jaye. RBI surplus to Govt : ₹2.87 Lakh Crores (US$30 Bn) Total listed bank profits : ₹4.11 Lakh Crores (US$42 Bn) NPCI - which runs UPI pre tax ‘surplus’ : ₹ 1,888 crores (US$200 Mn) To nuksaan kis ka ho raha hai UPI se aur kaunsi subsidy de rahi hai Govt UPI pe jo chubh rahi hai? Cost of running ATMs and cash logistics in India is ₹30,500 crores (US$ 3.0 Bn). If you want to optimise shut ATMs and promote UPI instead. Any levy on UPI is just tax collection. UPI is the one scientific achievement of India everyone acknowledges par ab tax ki bali chadhegi.
UPI Charges Row | Ashneer Grover Exclusive If I transfer ₹1 lakh to my friend through UPI, or I pay ₹3,000 using a QR code, what is the cost of running the system? The cost is the same. So, if I transfer ₹1 lakh to my friend, nobody is making money from it. But if I make a payment of ₹2,500 to a small shopkeeper then the government wants to put charges, what’s the logic? — @Ashneer_Grover speaks to @shreyadhoundial

India’s deep-tech moment is moving from “Can we build it?” to “Can we build it here - and at global scale?” With larger cheques flowing into deeptech and frontier technology, investors are increasingly looking for real IP, technical depth and defensible innovation — not just a compelling pitch. Your CCTV camera was designed in China. So was the flight controller inside most Indian drones. @DeepTechManu of @BluehillVC just closed a ₹400 crore fund to back the engineers changing that across chips, rockets, and defence. Full episode link in comments👇

Shortly after take-off, the flight attendant who usually whizzes past my seat because I never pre-book a meal, stopped to offer me a packet of oat cookies. For Free! The occasion? IndiGo's 20th anniversary. My first reaction was: "That's it? A ₹20 packet of cookies? For this momentous occasion". Air India for comparison offers a full meal free even on MAA-BLR sector which is a 40 min flight. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. We don't fly IndiGo for the frills. We fly them because they're efficient, predictable, and they almost always get us where we need to be, on time. More importantly, they've redefined what a profitable airline can look like - In India - with the most expensive jet fuel costs in the world to contend with (thanks to taxation)! While Air India reported a loss of over ₹26,000 crore in FY2026, IndiGo has shown that disciplined execution and operational excellence can build a sustainable aviation business. So keep flying us on time, efficiently, @IndiGo6E . We'll happily buy our meals on the ground. 🍪✈️

Excited to be quoted again on the front page of @EconomicTimes yesterday. Skyroot's successful launch is a landmark moment for India's space ecosystem. It demonstrates that deep-tech works, that the journey from lab to market is possible (in a reasonable timeframe), and that globally significant outcomes can be built from India. The Centre has played a pivotal role in this progress: from ISRO's deep support for Mission Aagaman to fostering an environment that enables follow-on funding for private space companies. For those of us investing in sovereign deep-tech, Indian IP & specifically startups in Space (like Ethereal Exploration building fully reusable 25 ton launch vehicles) this is an exciting signal of what's ahead.
