On this day in 1911, Dr. Frederick A. Cook’s willingness to share the title of first men to reach the North Pole with rival explorer Robert Peary ran out. He gave a speech accusing Peary of trying to ruin his good name by claiming to be the only man to reach the Pole. #TBT
