Alright, since people keep asking the yes or no question. Yes. People who give Dan money should know where it might go. And guess what, they do. Dan has said on other people's shows for years that he's an active Mormon. Everybody knows Mormons tithe. Nobody got tricked here. That info was out there the whole time. Now here's the part people keep skipping over. "Derek, paying YouTube isn't the same as choosing to tithe." Okay. Who's making Jimmy stream on YouTube? Who's making him post on Facebook? Who's making him put his podcast on Spotify, the company paying Joe Rogan 250 million dollars? Nobody. He picks all of that. Every day. And every single one of those companies either wrote a million dollar check to the Trump inauguration or changed their rules against LGBTQ people. He knows it too. He said "obviously YouTube takes their cut" on his own stream. And when Musk bought Twitter, all these guys bailed in a week. So don't tell me a platform isn't a choice. You already proved it is. So why does Jimmy stay on them? Because leaving would wreck his reach and his activism. Fine. I get it. That's a trade. It's the same exact trade Dan is making. If Dan quits tithing, he's out of that church, and he loses the ability to change it from the inside. Every ex-Mormon I know says he does more good in there than they can from outside. So you've got two guys putting money into stuff that hurts LGBTQ people, on purpose, because they think the bigger picture is worth it. One of them got called a grifter for a week. The other one was holding the microphone. Would I tithe to that church? No. I said that in the video. Don't want to support Dan because of it? Totally fair. Your money, your call. But you don't get to say his money cancels out everything he's done while the same kind of money runs through The Line every night and cancels nothing. Same rule for everybody.
