Really nice surprise today in the post. A certificate to acknowledge the donation of one of my metal-detected treasure finds to The Collection (Lincoln Museum). 👍🙂
Really pleased that our detecting input was acknowledged… Great that Time Team is utilising the P-DAS approach integrating field walking with metal detecting and bringing our Partial and Detailed Artefact Survey method to new audiences.
A lovely evening hosting the @thetimeteam Big Dome with @derekpitman this event with some brilliant TT legends including @CarenzaLewis @HelenGeake @hildevanderheul @aerial_cam @MattBearClark and many more
Probably the most integrated of metal detecting surveys on archaeological tv, to date…

This is what the two handles and one of the two sets of markers and the centre marker look like from a complete Gunter's chain. From my own collection. 👍

Just watched this & can't wait. Not only have I been a Patron since 2020 but was privileged to be part of the metal-detecting survey team on the Oxfordshire dig. To be working with the people I have admired for so long was an amazing experience. You are all in for a real treat👌

Common detecting finds are plain lead weights, but sometimes we get a special one. This Medieval find has a shield with the three lions of England. By the shield are the letters IE and VTAS with other, blurred letters possibly spelling CIVTAS. 16oz.PAS PUBLIC-BA9056 #FindsFriday

For #FindsFriday, a lead sundial face. Found detecting in pieces over several years. It has a very specific date on it, May 30th 1688. From the site of an old farm garden. The farm burned down in the late 1800's but finds and building materials on site date back to medieval times

Lovely Roman coin found by detectorists in the grounds of @AlthorpHouse today. It’s from the reign of the Emperor Antoninus, Hadrian’s successor: he also built a wall in the north - the Antonine Wall. Remarkably good condition, for a coin that’s nearly 1,900 years old.
Great to be a new team member and the AofD team did a great job

Great story… I often use this example to demonstrate what can be gained from a responsible approach.
