🚨MAJOR BREAKING NEWS: Premier League & UEFA Joint Sanctions Statement. Manchester City Football Club has been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges relating to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules covering the period 2009–10 to 2017–18. The independent commission determined that the club operated a systematic “disguised funding” arrangement, inflating commercial revenues through sham sponsorship agreements linked to ownership interests by more than £830 million, while failing to provide accurate financial information, player and manager payment details, and full cooperation with investigators. Following the completion of the appeal process and the subsequent sanctions hearing, the following measures have been imposed with immediate effect: Transfer restriction: A two-window ban on the registration of new players (both incoming and outgoing, with limited exceptions only for free agents already under contract). Points deduction: An 80-point deduction applied at the conclusion of the current 2026/27 Premier League season. Title reallocation: For each Premier League title won during the relevant period, the runners-up of those seasons will be retrospectively recognised as champions. The affected seasons’ final tables will be amended accordingly in the official record. European exclusion: UEFA has withdrawn Manchester City from all club competitions with immediate effect. This includes removal from the current UEFA Champions League League Phase. All remaining fixtures are forfeited (awarded 3–0 to the opponents), and the club is barred from European competition for a period to be confirmed in the final sanctions notice. These sanctions reflect the scale and duration of the breaches, which the commission concluded were intended to circumvent both Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules and UEFA’s Financial Fair Play framework.
