It is difficult to imagine this ruling holding up on appeal given the expansiveness of the parties they claim were harmed, i.e. the entire population of New Mexico.
Meta statement on today's New Mexico ruling:
“This ruling, and the Attorney General's approach to this enforcement, makes it all but impossible to do business in the state of New Mexico. At its core, this lawsuit seeks to impose a tax on speech to enforce new rules for what people can say online. We are confident we will prevail on appeal. In the meantime, Meta will continue to build a safe and free platform to connect millions of Americans, grow small businesses, and help the country maintain its competitive edge." -- C.J. Mahoney, Meta's Chief Legal Officer
It seems @Meta has been found liable for harming the entire population of the state of New Mexico – even people who never used their services.
This is both odd and chilling towards any online discourse.

Jensen Huang is right, though. AI will do many unpredictable things, but it will not exterminate the human race.
At least, the burden of proof should be on the doomers to explain to the rest of us how, exactly this is supposed to happen.

This is a bit incoherent from the Trump Admin, no?
One might even say it completely undermines yesterday's summit.
The FTC needs to be reined in.
