This honestly holds up really fucking well, and some of this stuff is still very genuinely creepy. The opening scene in particular. Good stuff.
Rewatching for the first time in damn near 30 years. This scared the piss out of me as a kid.

Now reading but I reserve the right to say fuck this without feeling bad about it if this shit’s too dense. I’ve heard that if I can get through and enjoy Infinite Jest I should be fine, buuuut… we shall see.

Or, OR… you’ll realize there was great music in all of these decades.
Once you experience 60s and 70s music you’ll never stop wanting to beat the 80s to death with your bare hands

The movie is, like, not at all focused on whether Amanda Seyfried feels regret.
I’m sorry. I love Nathan Fielder but I can’t imagine caring about if Amanda Seyfried feels regret about how she portrayed Elizabeth Holmes on a Hulu show. Baffling that Fielder and Oppenheim thought this was a critical thing to focus on in the doc.

When you don’t know what semantics means, or what “nothing” means, and you block me before you can learn. Lmfao.

This was quite good. Well made, well acted. I wasn’t blown away by it, and the whole premise seemed uncannily similar to a scene in “Wellness” by Nathan Hill, but yeah, this was good. Rogen and Wilde were definitely the highlights for me. The last scene was great.

Noticing a weird trend of people thinking this movie somehow had no laughs because it was about something serious. It’s VERY frequently a fucking hilarious movie, and Fielder’s approach is inherently comical.

We as a society are fucked in the dick if people would rather publicly defecate on themselves than miss a few minutes of a concert.
Someone shit their pants both nights at animal collective knockdown center. Someone shit their pants at an Andrew from MGMT dj set at public records last summer. We have a serious problem folks

Says this and then turns comments off like a brave boy
Pray tell, then, my man, what “book” should I read that will explain to me why a documentary should be uninterested in the truth about its subject? Hit me with da link I’m here to learn

You’re gonna do what now
Oh man now I’m attracting these like flies. Gonna break into your house tonight and steal all your shit and tell you it’s a grand statement about “our shaky relationship with personal property.”

Oh yeah, and someone in this movie 100% deserves a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Oscars, if not a win.
A film about semantics, semiotics, perception, intention, ambiguity & our shaky relationship with the truth. One of the most original films I’ve seen. Fully deserving of the hype, but I wonder if there won’t be blowback as ethics, integrity & manipulation continue to be discussed
