According to the #GospelOfToday (Mt 10:37–42), those who hold on to their lives merely for themselves actually lose them, for they do not open themselves to the joy of love and thus become barren. This is why Jesus invites us to embrace the cross. He offered himself, lost himself, and in this very way we were enabled to receive his life in abundance.

Representatives from the global Lasallian family are meeting today for the start of the Buttimer Institute at @ManhattanEdu in New York. During the two-week program, participants will focus on the life, educational and spiritual mission of Saint John Baptist de La Salle.

It is important to resist the commodification of basic human needs. Food, water and healthcare cannot be subordinated to market considerations or geopolitical interests. Access to adequate food is a fundamental human right grounded in the dignity of every person. Meeting this need not only alleviates suffering but also addresses underlying causes of geopolitical instability. 🙏 Brothers under 60 gathered last week to share lived experiences of faith, fraternity and mission alongside the Superior General, General Council members and Visitors. This gathering allowed for open dialogue about hopes and concerns for the vocation of the Brothers in RELAN.

Having become our brother, the Son of God looks at the people; He looks at humanity and sees the oppression that burdens and the violence that causes strength to fade. He sees the wounds of war and the emptiness of consumerism. He sees faces reduced to masks, families torn apart by evil, and young people misled by false ideals. Jesus sees and loves. The 3rd District Chapter of the Brothers of the San Francisco New Orleans District took place June 6-11, 2026 at Mont La Salle. The 20 Brother Delegates were joined by the Institute's Vicar General, Brother Carlos Gomez, who attended as an observer from the General Council.

We must keep in mind two attitudes in our Christian life in order to be “wise architects” in building the civilization of love. The first guiding principle is to take up the cross of Christ as Good Samaritans, accompanying and helping to carry the burdens of so many brothers and sisters who are crucified by life’s trials. The second principle is to cultivate a Eucharistic spirituality, a spirituality of ecclesial unity in love.

Every boat that arrives brings a question along with the migrants: what kind of world have we built, if so many brothers and sisters must risk death to seek life? Human dignity demands legal and safe pathways, rescue and assistance, real cooperation against traffickers, effective protection for victims, serious processes of reception and integration, and policies that allow every person to live with dignity in their own land. We cannot grow accustomed to counting the dead. Human dignity has no passport and does not lose its value when crossing a border. #ApostolicJourney
