I am a special educator at Dumfries Elementary. I love teaching my students. My goal everyday is to encourage them to show the world how amazing they are.

Anyone tried using part-part-whole models and bar models for spelling? Makes perfect sense to me ๐Ÿ˜€ #primaryrocks #edutwitter #crosscurricularmaths

GMS #PBIS โ€œWoot- Woot cartโ€ is off and running! Idea came from @Ohio_Middle conference as a way to intentionally recognize staff! We pull down staff shout-outs from board that students and staff submit. Gift, snack, drink and their nomination all received! #GMSpride

My class are absolutely OBSESSED with this #GeometryDash game on @Scratch Rather than get annoyed by it, I jumped on it with the @MakeyMakey kits. We had a go at making simple controllers to play it Card and split pins are all you need for discussions on ergonomics & aesthetic!

Exactly, and just because something is not "research based" does not mean it can't be used and will not work.
Often in education we are more focused on change than progress. The latest programs, newest gimmicks, or just adding more doesnโ€™t mean progress. In fact it rarely does. Perseverance is important. We have to stick to what we believes works & then actually give it time to work!

Yes, and they always come at the right time. The only problem I have is how to store them over the years and not look like an I a hoarder. ๐Ÿ˜…
You may not have a Teacher of the Year Award to hang on your wall, but the handwritten notes & drawings from your students that are tucked in your desk drawer are the real trophies that motivate and inspire you through the tough times!

Iโ€™ve proven that I can teach in pajama bottoms for almost a full year. Iโ€™ve proven that the relationships Iโ€™ve built with my students & the respect they have for me, are not based on my outfit. So, why canโ€™t I wear jeans?

Do you want to help kids move beyond compliance--to become more truly invested in their learning? Try simple language shifts such as moving from, "Here's what I want you to do for me..." to "Here's your next challenge. inservice.ascd.org/small-shiโ€ฆ @ELmagazine @ASCD

We're working on Phase 2 of our Primary Curriculum Prioritisation materials for 2021/22. A full-year's curriculum mapping will draw together our #MasteryMaterials and the DfE ready-to-progress criteria, with classroom slides ncetm.org.uk/classroom-resouโ€ฆ #PrimaryMaths
I also feel that although I am a teacher of students with specific learning disabilities, all the students in my building or virtually are my students.
Students who have IEPs arenโ€™t โ€œspecial education students.โ€ They are general education students who receive special education supports. All students can benefit from the expertise of special educators through collaborative universal design for learning. #EdChat #udl #udlchat
