Well… not how I envisioned my high school football career coming to an end. Around 4 PM the day before our first-round playoff game, I received some of the toughest news of my football career. After an undefeated 9-0 regular season and earning the title of Division Champions, I was diagnosed with an illness that prevented me from taking the field. I went from being extremely excited and prepared for our playoff game all day Friday to absolutely heartbroken when I found out I wouldn’t be able to compete the following morning. Unfortunately, we came up just short, losing 20-18. Although the outcome wasn’t what we wanted, this experience made me realize just how much this team, my teammates, and this game mean to me. This also made me realize how much losing me impacted not only our teams play but the team morale as well. I’m beyond grateful for every opportunity I’ve had to wear my high school jersey, compete alongside my teammates, and represent my school. Although my high school playing career may not have ended the way I hoped, I hope this isn’t the end of my football journey. I’m hungry for more. #EAT
