Habemus Papam! We give thanks for our new Pope, Leo XIV.
Someone who will follow Pope Francis in reaching out to 'those on the margins'.
He follows Leo XIII who helped found Catholic Social Teaching with Rerum Novarum in 1891, a great signal for his Papacy & the poor!

"The announcement marks a U-turn by the (Danish) government, which had previously refused to introduce such a law.
It comes as governments across Europe are trying to impose tighter regulations on children’s access to phones and social media."
France, Norway, Denmark.. and whole educational boroughs in UK have smartphone and social media restrictions in place to protect young children. When will Jersey?

Over 100 Barnet schools in London are banning smartphones in school for children up to Year 11. @deputyrobward and @DeputyAlves why are we delaying a similar move in Jersey? The evidence is compelling.
Hundreds of local families with children in years 5 to 11 (and beyond) are worried sick about the impact that smartphones have on their young children’s health, education and wellbeing.

10 million migrants by 2032. Brexit didn’t work for many who voted for it to bring down migration.
What an own goal and costly mistake for the United Kingdom.

If you read one news item on the importance of better awareness & management of food allergies across the U.K. which applies even more to Jersey which is 15 years behind U.K., please read this:

Insurance rebuild valuations of hospitality buildings in Jersey are currently 2 to 3 times their commercial value. For historic buildings even more.
Is it a surprise that we are seeing so little new investment in hospitality?
It’s hard to see a solution with so many public and other more profitable private sector businesses and high value domestic housing projects in the pipeline that keep build costs high and drive up land prices to unsustainable levels for hospitality. Why are Government surprised there is so little investment?
Government can invest in @VisitJerseyCI to attract more visitors but they need somewhere to stay and attractions and hospitality that has continued investment and innovation to keep up with competition.

Awareness of the risks to physical health and life presented by food allergies is growing but many don’t appreciate that the mental health challenges for children and adults with food allergy can significantly impact on their daily lives.
Please read this post and share to help raise awareness. The wonderful work being carried out by Christina Jones highlighted in the article should be compulsory reading for health authorities and those in primary care.
Another reason why food allergy legislation is so desperately needed in Jersey and Guernsey.

So far DFDS looking so much like the better choice. Double car and 25% more passenger capacity to U.K., staff subject to UK and EU employment protection and a ship 6 years younger than Clipper with new ships promised.
