A word to say we have determined where the Poole peregrines are most likely to nest this year. On the ASDA high-rise (Harbour Sail). Not in one of the boxes provided but in a gulley on the flat roof. They now have a gravel tray and the female has been on it. 🤞🤞

Today we installed a new nest box for the Poole peregrines on Harbour Sail (Asda high rise). This is the location I always intended a box to be. North facing with a sheer drop below. Fingers crossed the birds find it and like it. Thanks to the building owners 🙏

Not sure I have ever seen a 2cy Hobby with so few adult feathers; a truly brown bird after a winter in the African sun

Morden bog - hobby doing an "Osprey" plucking evading dragonflies out of the water. Impressive to watch, all looks so easy for the hobbys. @DorsetBirdClub @DorsetWildlife @harbourbirds @BBCSpringwatch @DorsetStudy

It’s fascinating to see how the diet of White-tailed Eagles changes as they get older, with fish becoming increasingly important. Check out our latest blog for more.
We've been closely studying the diet of the White-tailed Eagles released on the Isle of Wight, and have a dataset of over 600 field observations. This shows that they increasingly favour fish as they get older. @SeaEagleEngland Read more: roydennis.org/2024/06/05/whi… Photo: @twamers

Often people ask what the point of colour ringing birds is. Not all birds are easy to re-catch in order to read their rings, it also reduce disturbance & field time This Peregrine Falcon was ringed as a chick in 2021 & is now a breeding bird at that site. Fantastic birds and data

DRSG are pleased to have helped Stonewater Housing manage potential breeding peregrines at one of their sites. We have installed a bespoke nest box on Harbour Sails high-rise in Poole, Dorset (above ASDA). If peregrines use this box it will be safe and secure.
