My mother has been planning for this for years. My estimate is that she has enough stores for at least two weeks probably more.

Boasting of ethnic cleansing
NEW: Netanyahu says he is working "a great deal" with third-party countries to facilitate the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. "The problem is the countries that would receive them. We are working on that too. I am working on it a great deal, and there are beginnings. I don't want to go into detail."

Escalating attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels have prompted the US to order some of its diplomatic staff to leave Saudi Arabia. The latest attack killed two people - a Saudi citizen and an Indian national - at the King Fahd International Airport in the eastern city of Dammam last night. Eight others were injured.

When planners cannot even learn from 9 months of recent history....
"Some US planners are convinced that an intensive three-day campaign could cause enough economic damage to change the Iranian position." You would think they'd have stopped making these kinds of predictions eight months into what was supposed to be a four-or-five-week war nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/po…

An oped in @arabnews in which I argue Israeli politics has not changed much in recent years despite the wars and crises. Israeli Jews will vote overwhelmingly for right wing parties. If anything, it is the Palestinian parties that form the peace camp arabnews.com/opinion/israels…

I worry about the 31%
Trump's approval rating fell to a record low as Americans worried about high gasoline prices and appeared ready to punish his Republican Party. Only 31% of Americans approve of Trump's performance, the lowest level in either of his presidential terms. trib.al/5hqEZ1P

On a Parliamentary delegation two weeks ago the excitement in Oman was very real. I had various protocol questions on dress etc asked of me as if I knew. What was extraordinary is how many Omanis including the Sultan (Oxford) have been educated in the UK.
The Sultan of Oman is about to be treated to the full display of British pomp and pageantry (and pouring rain) as he arrives at Windsor Castle for a state visit. The King, Queen, Prince and Princess of Wales areout en masse for procession, lunch, display of RCT items and banquet

Half a million Palestinians in Gaza could be cut off from food support provided by the UN’s World Food Programme. The agency says it's being forced to make major cuts due to a lack of funding. Two-thirds of Gaza’s population is already facing crisis levels of food insecurity or worse.

This is exactly what @caabu and many MPs have called for in meetings with Ministers- a clear warning from the UK government about the implications of any companies engaging in the tendering process for the illegal E1 settlement. Should apply to any settlement contruction though

But also @BBC4today because Israel damaged or made inaccessible about 97% of agricultural land in the Gaza Strip, plus roughly 95% of Gaza’s fishing fleet and infrastructure.
One of the main suppliers of food aid to Gaza, the UN’s World Food Programme, says it’s being forced to “drastically reduce lifesaving assistance” because of a funding shortage. Acting exec director Carl Skau is asked if he is pushing the Israeli government hard enough.

This matters. UK has strong links with Oman but there is a need for strong cooperation to handle Iran, Hormuz, Yemen and Bab al Mandab. Plenty of commercial opportunities too in green energy, data centres, tourism and transport as @caabu delegation two weeks ago was told.
His Majesty the Sultan departs for the friendly United Kingdom #UK on a four-day state visit during which he will meet His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great #Britain and Northern Ireland and Head of the Commonwealth.

This points to some behind the scenes tacit agreement. Trump did not jump into this. He demanded a price. We may find out what that is after 3 November.

Though most of humanity realised he was potty and unfit to be President at least by 2016 if not before.
We former fans of Donald J. Trump can all remember where we were when we finally admitted that the POTUS was potty. We would now be required to grimly gorge on so much humble pie that we might as well go in for a competitive eating contest and make some money out of it. For me, it was when he appeared this week to be making sport with the awful event in Doncaster, when a mentally disturbed young man entered a tiger's enclosure in a 'wildlife park' and was killed by the imprisoned beast. ✍️ Julie Burchill Article | spectator.com/article/shame-… | @BoozeAndFagz

The UK must take steps regarding Israeli crimes in Lebanon. It has new sanctions powers as of Thursday which should be used
Israeli Defense Minister Katz on Lebanon: '60 villages destroyed. 23,000 houses demolished. 200,000 residents gone. This is the Gaza model, and this is the model we are implementing.' Just a Minister of Defense proudly listing the villages he erased and the 200,000 people he displaced They've stopped hiding it
