“Some of our main problems now is with the middle class who believe they own the Ormeau,” says Noel Liggett, District Master of Ballynafeigh Loyal Orange Lodge, No 10, whose Orange Hall stands on the Ormeau Road. “If you drive down the Ormeau Road in a bit of sunshine, you’ll see the coffee shops, all the guys sitting sipping their coffees. The older Prods will be down the side street, not really taking part. They look on us with contempt.” Read the full interview here: irishtimes.com/ireland/2026/…

Likely the right sort of soldier to have assigned on this close protection duty. Harry McCallion, another SAS soldier, reveals in his book Undercover War that the intelligence leading to Mrs McAliskey being protected came from an informer inside the UDA. “Collusion”? Hardly.

Sir Ken McCallum, director general of MI5—the United Kingdom's domestic security and counterintelligence agency—delivered his annual threat update last week. He warned of a “new era” for national security, one that required “a new response.” “The speech could still have gone further in underscoring the importance of soft power and connecting the dots between what is happening in society—polarization, distrust, bigotry, racism—and the country's vulnerabilities to terrorists or state actors," writes expert @Farah_Pandith and Ezra Hess. cfr.org/articles/unpacking-m…

As I said on @bbcsml we should not be paying a penny in slavery reparations to anyone. Yes slavery was wrong, but it was practiced by societies the world over (and indeed continued to be practiced by Africans and others long after Britain abolished it). Given the huge amounts of blood and treasure we spent in abolishing the slave trade around the world, we have also amply paid our debt

Sadly cancelled my monthly RBL donation. If you can afford that much money hiring a DEI apparatchik? Then you obviously have little need of mine. Charities too often use us as milch cows for fashionable causes, not the ones we choose to support.
