Kurin-chan, a parakeet of Akita Prefecture, went missing in October. She was found and given to an animal-loving couple. Over two weeks, Kurin-chan regained her composure and gradually recited her owners' full address. She's now home safe and sound. sakigake.jp/news/article/202…

The #Perl and #Rakulang #FOSDEM stand was packed all day and the Raku booklets were so popular that we have none left! Here is a PDF download if you missed out (20MB): nextcloud.opusvl.com/s/iAHqf… #FOSDEM2020 #PerlFoundation @perlfoundation

I know quite a few people doing FOSS work that might be affected by this - hope not, but you never know.

Putting up a batslgnal. Rackspace terminated their support for FOSS projects at the end of 2019 and apparently didn't tell me (or anyone?), and is now saying that I owe them $850. I've stopped all my infra with them, but "non-payment accounts are able to be sent to Collections".

Thanks, we definitely can't forget Andrew who got us the booth slot, without that none of this would have happened.

Want your name in lights? Or at least the 2020 "Introduction to #rakulang" pamphlet? We're going to press in a few days, and I'm the one doing the rewriting, so DM me if you've got #rakulang content that you want publicised!

Putting out a call for #FOSDEM #perl #raku volunteers to staff the booth - We've got FSF Europe's old booth this year on the ground floor, so look for high traffic and high touch! DM me here, or if you know my email send a note my way!

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Cruise ships on fire off the shoals of Pike Place. I watched spotlight beams gleam off the Seattle Needle. All those moments will be lost in time, like… craft beers down the drain. Time to die.

Living across the park from the #spaceneedle I'm disappointed to not get fireworks for the first time in a decade, but I'm also happy my apartment didn't burn down like mine in Amsterdam damn near did.
