I love the “princess pad” - but yes it desperately needs another name! Makes a huge difference to joint and lower back pain, esp during pregnancy. But it doesn’t seem to exist at all in the NHS??
Sadly have been asked too often about the “Princess pad” And sadly was advised to be “less demanding” when discussing how to approach this positively in the OR Ultimately safety (and wellness) is about performance and patient safety - let’s work together!

Dear friends and colleagues, It is with overwhelming sadness that we share news of the death of our colleague, mentor and friend, Rinaldo Bellomo. During recent days, both he and his family have received dedicated, expert and compassionate care from some of the finest in our ICU community. We share their pain and sense of loss. Over several decades, Rinaldo has made a profound and enduring impact on ICU practice in Australia, New Zealand and around the world. As a passionate researcher he challenged conventions, championed evidence-based practice in the care of the critically ill and supported countless colleagues in their research careers. As a compassionate mentor, colleague and friend, he touched and enriched numerous lives, and will be greatly missed. His loss will affect our whole community and in due course there will be opportunities to come together to celebrate his life. This will be a difficult time for many, but we know that our memories of Rinaldo’s relentless enthusiasm, warmth, optimism and boundless energy will help us all through the weeks ahead. In lieu of flowers, Rinaldo's family would welcome donations to support his research legacy at austin-health-community-fund… Our sincere condolences and best wishes go out to his family, friends and colleagues. Craig Carr, on behalf of the ANZICS community

Wonderful opportunity to talk to GSA Trainees about the importance of surgeon wellbeing. Amazing that GSA is highlighting this. Keep checking in with yourselves and your colleagues 🧡 @RACSurgeons

In 2022-2023, 895 liver transplants took place in the UK. A liver transplant is the second most common transplant globally, following kidney transplant. Today is #WorldLiverDay, a day of raising awareness about the vital role of the liver.

How am I travelling? Pretty well. A few minor medical hiccups but nothing too serious. Recent challenges: antiepileptics, prolonged URTI/cough, viscid mucus secretions, semi-blocked ears & dry skin the main ones together with some lack of energy. Some minor abnormalities in blood tests. I have a great team of specialists looking after all aspects of my care! Thank you all and your wider teams very much for all the support & assistance you are giving me to fight this wretched supposedly incurable brain cancer #glioblastoma with world 1st #neoadjuvant combination #immunotherapy & a personalised anticancer vaccine led by @ProfGLongMIA. @ProfGLongMIA & I look forward to seeing many people at Melanoma March at Iron Cove Bay in Sydney this Sunday at 7am to either run/jog the 7k Bay Run or walk 4K. “More courage is needed to push treatment boundaries, backed by science, for the benefit of all cancer patients.Clinical trials are crucial. In Australia, less than 6% of cancer patients are on a clinical trial.Every eligible Australian cancer patient should be given this opportunity. Research into any cancer can transform the field globally. It is how we will save lives across ALL cancers. -@ProfGLongMIA & @ProfRScolyerMIA #WorldCancerDay @ausoftheyear

Such important research @DocJasmina congratulations. Reading these comments is pretty heart breaking. Systems do need to find a way of being more accomodating to trainees seeking to start a family/undertake fertility Rx if they are serious about increasing workforce diversity.

"One of the placards that I saw said: Peace for Palestine, Peace for Israel, Peace for the world. And I think that sums up the feeling here. They wanted to come out and demonstrate for peace on Armistice day" "I've also seen a lot of people with a Palestinian flag but also wearing a poppy at the same time. A lot of people said that they really felt that was important that they wanted to support both causes today. In the name of Armistice. In the name of Peace"
