Finally,😀 a release of nearly 11 years worth of half-hourly electrical generation data for Great Britain. Cleaned (and raw) timelocked to UTC and local time doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.38848…
Thanks to @ELEXONUK @ng_eso Hope it saves people time @BEIS_stats @bhamenergy
Britain generated more electricity from wind, solar and hydro than fossil fuels for the first year ever in 2023 by nearly 5 TWh using publicly available data. At this level, likely that official data will confirm this later in the year

Charts that show system average gas price, opening daily values for gas in storage, and total daily gas demand in comparison to electrical demand and liquid fuels.
thanks Gavin - hope you're keeping well. Have you been back on campus yet? I haven't - but perhaps in the next week or two

England and Wales electrical demand for April is the lowest in at least over 50 years (data starts at 1971). The electrical demand takes Britain back to levels not seen since the 1960s. @CREDS_UK @CESIenergy @BEIS_stats @UKERCHQ @theCCCuk

Daily 2020 vs 2019 GB electrical demand, an obvious drop after social distancing announced. @ng_eso @PastCoal @CREDS_UK @ftenergy @energynetworks @theCCCuk . Interesting to observe how this reverses when restrictions are eased.
April 2020 GB electrical demand is on track to be around or even lower than the estimated amount for 1971, a 17% drop on last year @ng_eso @PastCoal @CREDS_UK @ftenergy @energynetworks A phenomenal drop in one year and wondering how long all electrical suppliers can survive this!
GB generation has been coal free since the 10th of April, and during the morning of the 28th, will break the 18.25 day record set last year. @EmberClimate @AlokSharma_RDG @PastCoal
Interesting similar analysis by @GraemeHawker and Prof Keith Bell from @UKERCHQ. Great stuff.
