AI can clone a voice, translate a meeting and make a digital twin sound alive.
But ask it to understand speech changed by ALS, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s or stroke, and it often breaks.
It returns nothing. Invents words. Makes the user repeat themselves.
A severity score can tell you someone is harder to understand.
A phonological profile starts to show what is breaking down.
Communication is a basic human right. Silence is a medical emergency.
This is a screening and research tool, not a diagnosis.

This is our first public post from a larger body of work on what speech AI misses, what neurological disease changes in the voice, and how we build for the people technology fails first.
Peter's vision lives on! Scott-Morgan Foundation partners with @elevenlabs & @bridgingvoice to offer free AI voice tech to people with MND worldwide. Preserving voices, empowering lives. Learn more: scottmorganfoundation.org #MND #AIForGood #AssistiveTech

Thanks for your advice for someone just diagnosed #ALS community.
The Scott-Morgan Foundation @DrScottMorgan is proudly working with partners like @Lenovo & @cereproc, testing & designing assistive tech with Erin, who was just diagnosed at 23. Meet Erin:

We're so proud & moved to see an AI system originally developed for Peter’s home adapted & deployed at @drink321coffee in Raleigh, NC. Brilliant work supporting everyone's Right to THRIVE through technology from our friends at appliedAIstudio and @Lenovo: wraltechwire.com/2023/07/26/…

Today is the anniversary of Dr. Scott-Morgan's death. In his honor, we’re forming a new advisory council to aid in furthering Peter's legacy of inclusive technology for all. If you’re living with a disability and want to join, please fill out our survey: forms.gle/edSG3AD2ngwaMTTt9
Richard Cave, a friend of The Foundation, is working with our team to use @Lenovo phones to use @Google's free Project Relate app and @speedoftrust27's informational demos on how to use this app. DM us if you don't have an Android device or need more info & we'll host a webinar.
#ALS & #MND for anyone living with a disability-challenged speaking . The Scott-Morgan Foundation is supporting Richard Cave-@speedoftrust27, a friend of @DrScottMorgan, to promote @Google's Project Relate--a free app that helps people with motor speech impairments communicate.
Our mission @ The Scott-Morgan Foundation is to democratize assistive technology to restore independence lost to disease & disability, allowing anyone, regardless of their economic resources, to interact with the world again. @DrScottMorgan words motivated so many. Never Give Up!
At The Scott-Morgan Foundation, we align with visionaries championing possibility who push back on the status quo. One of those visionaries is our newest patron. Meet our hero, Dr. Nick Gompertz, the founder of @earswitch, a revolutionary device.
@GompiN earswitch.co.uk/
Earswitch enables people to use an assistive keyboard like Stephen Hawking & Peter's using an in-ear biometric switch and sensor technology. Prof Hawking's used a check muscle & Peter used eye-gaze technology to control their comm. devices. @EarSwitch uses a muscle in the ear.
We believe @EarSwitch can work with/transition to a brain-computer interface (BCI) for people living with paralysis and ALS/MND.
