The People Who Disappear When Illness Arrives 💔 Yesterday, I attended a carers support group, and I came away feeling heartbroken. Listening to other people's experiences of dementia, caring and the loneliness that comes with both made me reflect on my own life. I've experienced friendships disappearing because of my MS, and now I'm watching something similar happen to my 90-year-old mum, who has vascular dementia. At her age, so many friends have already passed away. And when the few who remain stop making an effort, that isolation becomes even more painful. One thing that struck me was how many carers shared the same experience. People don't know what to say, how to behave or how to support someone whose life has changed through illness. So sometimes, they simply disappear. I'm also struggling with something deeply personal: trying to be Mum's daughter and her carer while managing my own MS. Sometimes I don't have enough energy to be both. I'm grieving the mum I knew before dementia, while also grieving the things MS has taken from my own life. This is a very personal video about dementia, disability, unpaid caring, loneliness and the relationships we lose along the way. If someone you love is living with illness or caring for someone who is, please don't disappear. You don't need to have all the answers. Sometimes just showing up means everything. ❤️ #DementiaAwareness #UnpaidCarers #MultipleSclerosis #VascularDementia #CarersMatter #DisabilityAwareness #InvisibleGrief #PoweredByExperience

A brilliant day of information, connections, solidarity and passion
We are pleased to report that our NHS at a Crossroads conference on Saturday was a resounding success! Lots of great connections forged and strengthened and so much passion in the room for a well funded and fully public NHS. Onwards together! 💙

NHS AT THE CROSSROADS conference opening with @DrJohnPuntis and @AndrewMeyerson The NHS in Crisis is not getting a response from this Govt. People are bankrupted in the US by health charges. We cannot afford not to keep our public NHS.

Wow @DavidGWrigley that is scarily ruthless and a frankly dangerous decision. For hospital decision-making, patient care and GP workload stress. And the Budget has ignored the NHS crisis undermining the health of the population and the economy.
So my local FT - @UHMBT - has allegedly just told all its consultants they CANNOT book any further follow up appts for patients in their clinics. All clinics are now for ‘new’ patients. It’s an absolute outrage. What do patients do now for ongoing care. Yup - they come to us…..
